Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
can we please choose our words carefully?Lately there have been alot of rude and hurtful comments about people's choice of reception hall, mine included and it is not cool.
I have visited some of the halls on here that were not given the best of reviews and some of them I actually liked, had I listened to some opinions on here I would have never given these places a chance.
Don't mean to start a fight, but we should all try to exercise some tact at times.
Thanks.

I agree with you 100%Everyone has different taste. What one bride wants another might hate and vise versa.
Not to mention, everyone has different experiences with these places.

I agree! It's one thing to not like a reception site, but it is another thing to bash it. I would be extremely hurt to see people bashing my hall Constructive criticism is good, bashing is bad bad bad!

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I agree! I hate it when one person makes a comment and a bunch of people say 'oh well then i wont go visit them!!'. They just totally cancel it from their ideas cuz someone else had an opinion on it.

I think it's especially hurtful once someone has already booked to hear such things! I agree!

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I agree. It's better to say, 'I saw Name of Place and it wasn't what I was looking for.' One person's palace is another person's dump.
On the other hand, if someone truly had a bad experience someplace, I would rather they be honest about it, so I can make a well-informed choice.

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I think it is good to be honest, but you are right about showing some tact. I have been to weddings where I didn't care for say the decor. That is a matter of taste (and something that cannot be 'fixed'), but to say the place is horrible because of that is not right and creates hurt feelings. At the same time, if there was a problem with the service or a particular person working there or even the food, then I would like to know because that can easily be fixed with a phone call to the hall about your concerns. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
i have to tell you guys, I agree 100%. My brother got married at Westbury Manor and we had the 'best' time, a few months later someone I know got engaged and went to look at it, then ran around saying the place was ugly, dirty, etc. etc. It was pretty ridiculous and rude, considering that other people might be getting married there. I can honestly say there is not one place that we visited that i hated, just either not in our price range or not our style of decor. These places stay in business for a reason, if they were that bad all the time they wouldn't be around.

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
Agree! I will also add on to Kysha's suggestion: I love when someone has something to say but doesn't have any further back up for it. I don't like hear say comments. Tell me YOUR experience not what everyone and their mother experienced. I am a true believer that you really can't criticize, ridicule or comment on anything or anyone until you have experienced it yourself. Just b/c so and so gave negative/positive input about something, doesn't mean its true.

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I agree. I recently read someone bashing a site, and I thought it was sooo mean! Obviously some people have booked the site and they are excited about it!Now, if there is a service problem (as there was with mine
), I think everyone should know about it so that they can make sure to look out for it if they book the place. But, to bash a site b/c it doesn't look the way you'd like it, it doesn't have as much 'class' as you think it should or because it's below your budget is just plain rude. Not to mention-everyone has different tastes.
