SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

We're shopping for an SUV.

John had his eye on the Toyota Highlander. I think we definately need something with at least 2 rows of seats behind the driver. So our next option is the Honda Pilot. Does anyone have one or know about them?

Anything else? ROOMY is priority!

Here's the Honda Pilot. It has GREAT reviews, above and beyond many other SUV's and Its a Honda!

Honda Pilot

I dont know whats with my pics not attaching lately!

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

i have a jeep cherokee-its not what you are looking for, but when i was looking i did check out the highlander. it was terrific, just too big for me.

i dont know much about the pilot-have you checked out the buick rendevous? i think it has 3rd row seating as does the ford explorer or expedition. i would check out some safety reports. you can find them on the web. i wish i did more research b4 i bought the jeep-i learned after i bought it that it has a higher roller risk than other suvs.

I have a 2002 Explorer, I love it! It comes standard with the 3rd row of seats, but I opted not to get it.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

We have a Toyota 4 Runner and LOVE it. The best car we could ever own.

It takes me a little effort to get in it because I am short and have to climb in, but it runs great, and its a great car.

It guzzles gas though. I think we get about 16/17 miles a gallon but it needs a tune up so its been getting 12 miles a gallon.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

The Highlander got good ratings on Consumers, but believe it or not, they compare it more to station wagons than other SUVs. The Pilot is very highly rated, also.

My friend just bought a Toyota Sequioa, and it's beautiful and has room to seat seven. It's a good option if you are looking for something bigger, roomer and nicer than the Toyota Highlander.

Good luck, Anna...I'm interested to see what you guys settle on since we'll be shopping for a new car in a few more weeks.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

Good luck with whatever you choose. We have a Ford Explorer and while I love it, I don't love paying $38 to fill it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My niece has my old car, a 1995 Honda Civic so whenever I see it, I reminisce about paying $15 to fill it up and get lots and lots of miles per gallon.

But that was pre-Luke and you can't have a baby in a 2 door Civic so here we are SUV owners.

Let us know what you go with.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

My friend and neighbor just bought the highlander and I was looking at in the parking lot and I thought it looked like a high minivan. I can understand why they compare it to a station wagon.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

Liz, a very good friend of mine used to call her Ford Explorer the 'Exploder' b/c they had so many problems with it....least of which was the amount of $$$ to fill the tank...

I really like the new Infiniti SUV, but I think I am leaning more toward a wagon b/c I don't want a gas-guzzler...

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

We don't need room for 7 and cannot imagine we ever will so the Hylander is perfect for us. It is built on a Camary platform so it doesn't drive like a truck. it drives like a nice car instead. Many of the SUVs are built on truck platforms and that is why you get that bumpy ride.
My friend has the Passat Wagon and it drives beautiful.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

You want roomy? Well, I love my Excursion! But most hate it...I don't care as long as they get out of my way.

We had a Toyota 4-Runner prior to the Excursion and that was an awesome truck! (My FH had 2 prior to the last one as well.) Never any problems with it and I believe that has a lot to do with the manufacturer...Toyota is excellent. What about the Sequoia? That has 3 seats, doesn't it?

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

Anna,

Liz and I bought a Pilot a few weeks back after doing weeks of research. I have owned just about every make of car you can imagine (really into cars). All I can say is thus far it's the best car I've ever owned. Really! And the first scheduled maint. is 105,000 miles. Not bad! What I thought was so cool was the salesman brought us into the service area to show us one of the colors on another vehicle. i commented about how clean the service area is. He laughed and said why not, all we do is oil changes. I said where do you send the cars to be worked on. He said no where. I was confused. Where do you fix them? He said, they don't break! He was right, they don't break. Anyway, if you want more info just FM me with your phone number and I'll give you the scoop!

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

Mercury mountainer has a third row and drives like a car. Doesn't feel like you are in a truck.
Comes in a V6 so it isn't as bad on gas.

Re: SUV Reviews ??? Good or Bad!

Forgot to mention, the Pilot seats eight all with three point harnesses (has a 5 star saftey rating). Both back seats fold down, so you don't have to remove them and when folded you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood (or what ever else you like).
