Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?
Anyone have experiences or opinions on getting married between the months of January and March? The prices are so low then, but is it worth it? Does anyone think it's a horrible time, or does it really not make too much difference?

I think a winter wedding can be very beautiful. I would be concerned if you have a lot of out of town guests. I wanted a Christmas wedding but because my husband's entire family is from MA and Canada I felt it was unfair to him. There are just toooo many snow storms to take the chance. But if everyone is in town and you don't mind the cold it is fine. remember it gets darker earlier too so plan accordily for photos.

Although I am not marrying in the winter, I think winter weddings are just as good as any other month. Plus you get the added bonus of a saving a lot of $$$, we all love that right? A white wedding would be really pretty

I am getting married in January. I also travel abroad every January (except this year) and to be completely honest I have never been delayed in travel, even when it snowed. I like a winter wedding & have some beautiful pics of others' weddings, but you need to feel secure with your choice. It will do you no good to save $$ if it creates a whole bunch of worry for you.

I was thinking maybe the middle of February. There's not too many out of town people.

I like February... we wanted to do February , but I do not get off in February from school, so we would have had to postpone the HM.

Love them! I got married Dec 29 and had a Christmas wedding. It was beautiful. We had a sunny day with a light blanket of snow that was awesome in pictures. It snowed pretty bad this Christmas and I was a bit worried. the limo co. called and said they might not be able to take out the Rolls. But it all worked out. Also, to be the flip side of what others said about out of towners...my whole DH family is from Indiana and traveled for the wedding. It was not an inconvenience for them, but an exciting time. None had been to NYC, much less at Christmas when the city is beautiful, so they came a few days early, we spent the day before the wedding touring the city and had a wonderful time. It all depends on what your guests are like.

That picture is beautiful, but I'm not holding out for it to look like that on my wedding. If it snowed, it would probably turn out gross and slushy.I have to get ready to leave work now, but if anyone has experiences with winter weddings, please post! Thanks!

I'm getting married in December...and I didn't save any money!!!
But, I do want to say that winter weddings are beautiful...but so are summer, spring and fall weddings!!! It's all up to you...for my FH and I...we're not summer people and love the winter and the holidays...so we chose this time to get married. It's all a matter of personal taste. People say that you can't predict the weather...but there are also hurricanes and rainy weather to worry about. There is no guarantee at any time of the year for beautiful perfect weather!!!Good Luck!!!

I think they are just as great as any other time...(I wanted the summer...only b/c I am off in the summer)just be prepared for the snowstorm that could change things...odds are that you are OK...but if that makes you nervous I would go for Dec or March...less likely to snow...

also wanted to add...people may look forward to a winter wedding since going out is usually less for most people in the winter

if my FH wasn't in Grad school we would have had a February wedding....I like the idea that so few people do get married then - you'll probably have a better turn out.

Ima January wedding..and at first I didnt like it..but it worked out best with our schedules..so we found a beautiful place with fireplaces..and we booked it. Not only was the price great..but ia m so excited about having a winter wedding. Its going to be a candlelight ceremony, with a flute trio playing, it will be so beautiful if it snows..I bought a stunning cape to go with my dress so I dont freeze..and I am so glad now taht Im havinga winter wedding. Guests know to plan on bad weather..so it shoudl be fine. Im actually hoping for alittle snow!!!

I went to a wedding this past Jan. it was great! I did notice that the BM dresses were'nt weather friendly they didn't even have shawls and it was cold.My friends got married 4 years ago in Jan. and it snowed the night before they got great pics.
I also was in a wedding last March and they had a great day.

Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?
I'm in March and there is no way to tell how it will go. I chose March for the money savings and I hate being hot, so the cooler weather will be a blessing. My best friend lives in California and what he said truly hit home. He basically said, unless the airport is closed, he will be there. Anyone who loves you will make it no matter what. My advice is to go with that and don't give the hall a high guarantee.
