I have a VERY DIFFICULT time falling asleep, and sleeping soundly.

I have to be EXHAUSTED to sleep (on average, I get 4-6 hrs. a night).

I wish I could pick 2....I usually fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow...but DH needs to have the TV on...so I don't know if that contributes to it...

Kathy I have insomnia alot. Seriously, I have not slept well in THREE nights..In the past 3 nights I slept for 12 hrs total

I'm at a loss! I've tried Ambien only a few times, and OMG...it was like an acid trip! I was totally hallucinating.

I am OUT as soon as my head hits the pillow....I can fall asleep so quickly....the other day I fell asleep in the movies and DH left me in the chair....all the people were walking out of the theater while the credits were rolling and there I was, snoring away...LOL He stood there for a good 3. 4 minutes before he decided to wake me up and mortify me!!

I have to have the tv on all night

When DH shuts it I turn it back on...I usually win out so its on all night.

I just turn off the bedroom light and snuggle up to my honey and fall asleep!

I don't fall asleep immediately though. Maybe 10-20 mins.

I have read more than once that falling asleep with the TV on does not give people a completely restful sleep - your subconscious can still pick up on the TV and can cause insomnia!

I am in a dead sleep approximately 30 seconds after my head hits the pillow. Falling asleep is never a problem for me!!

Same thing happened to me!!! After my surgery, but I was still in the hospital with a tube down my throat into my stomach that was scratching the hell out of the back of my throat. The nurse gave me a shot of Ambien to help me sleep.

Well. I had a dream/hallucination, and I ended up pulling the tube out of my throat (in my hallucination the flowers that were on my nightstand turned into the garden of eden and the tube was the snake from the garden. pretty freaky huh?). It scared the hell out of me and I was so shaken from it the resident on duty let me sleep that night without putting the tube back in. They put it in the next day - that was no joy either let me tell you.

I will never go near that stuff again!

Maribelle, your wedding is in 2008? Wow you got a head start You will be an expert by the time your wedding rolls around!

i have a hard time falling asleep too. as a matter of fact, i may go to a sleep clinic to find out why. i think i just have a hard time relaxing. the slightest noise wakes me too. i have tried ambien, but i was dependant on it for a long time. now i try melatonin, which works occasionally. if i am really desperate i will take benedryl.

It takes me 10-20 minutes to fall asleep. I have to sleep with a fan on though for the noise. It's something I started when I was little and now can not sleep without the noise. Unfortunately though, once I fall asleep I don't stay asleep. I usually wake up several times a night stressing about something. I frequently take benedryl or tylenol pm. I wish I could just sleep through the night like I used to.

It depends on the night. Usually just watch TV. But some nights I feel like reading. My DH falls asleep when his head hits the pillow. I usually if I am lucky fall asleep after Will & Grace.

I fall asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow - and once asleep, I'm out for the count - I can sleep through anything.

But I do go through bouts of insomnia. I try breathing exercises and when that fails I try a relaxing exercise that starts with my toes...when I'm lucky, I'm out before I get to my head. When that doesn't work...I watch TV until my eyes start to cross...then I go to bed.

Usually with a nice glass of Merlot due to the fact i have insomnia & fear of fire breaking out in the middle of the night
