Is 50% normal for photo deposit?

Just thought that seemed high. Photog wants 1/2 now and 1/2 at time of wedding.

nope - we did 1/3 then 1/3 due a month before, and 1/3 due that day. Every place we looked at told us $1000 deposit - I have never heard of 1/2.

we did $50 to hold our date/prices and then we had to do half within about 4months from booking...the other half is due 1 month before.

We had to leave 30% and then the rest on the day of the wedding.

ours was i believe 20% down, 30% few months later, 40% right before the wedding and 10% after wedding

We're doing increments of 1/3. You're going to have to pay them anyway, 50% isn't too bad.

Mine was about 20% and then 60% on the day of the wedding, and 20% when we drop off the proofs we'll pick for the albums.

I don't remember exact percentages but our deposit for photo/video was $500 and then we had another amount due a few months before and the rest due when picked up proofs...that sounds like a lot to me.

We left a $500 deposit and then paid 1/3 one month later, 1.3 the month before and then paid the final $1,000 when we picked up our proofs.

We did $500 for each photographer and videographer as deposit, then the rest is due a month before the wedding except for $300 when we pick up the albums.
