Re: Bora Bora Thread
Bora Bora was amazing. We stayed at St. Regis. If you go to Bora Bora, make sure to make a reservation at Villa Mahana way in advance. We had tried to book a table 3 months prior but they were already booked. We luckily got a table because of a cancellation. Their risotta was to die for, definitely top 5 meals I've had in my life. Honestly I thought the restaurant would be overrated but it was totally not. http://www.villamahana.com/
Despite what others told us, we also spent some time in Tahiti (Intercontinental) and Moorea (Sofitel). I wholeheartedly recommend that you go STRAIGHT to Bora Bora. We wasted half our honeymoon at subpar islands.

Did you go to Moorea at all? I was told that island was a little more fun than Bora Bora... although Bora Bora is the most beautiful it can get boring to be there for 2 weeks striaight. I was told this by a number of people. Also it's wayyy to expensive to stay in Bora Bora for that amount of time. But did you find this to be true?

I found Moorea to be very unimpressive. Belvedere Lookout , Tiki Village, and everything else that was in the tourist guides were all disappointing. I can't even remember the food and restaurants. After Tahiti and Moorea, I was seriously regretting going to the French Polynesia. The beaches weren't that great and I was thinking that my vacations to the Caribbean and Hawaii were MUCH better. However, I was blown away when I got to Bora Bora. If anything, spending time in the worse islands made me appreciate Bora Bora that much more.
My friend went to Bora Bora and then to Le Tahaa afterwards and said it was disappointing to leave Bora Bora. Personally, if I could do it all over again, I'd probably stay at more than one resort IN Bora Bora to have a different experience vs going to different islands. JMO.

Can't believe I never went to the 'honeymoon' section before !! So glad I found this post after the day I've had researching hotels in Tahiti!I was starting to get discouraged by the bad reviews I read for each hotel, people were saying that the service was horrible and the people were very rude to americans. Girls who went, did you experience this?

Hi, Ladies. I'm still looking into honeymoon packages. Can anyone share about how much it is to go on a honeymoon here for about 7-8 days? I don't want to start looking into this if it's way out of our budget.

Re: Bora Bora Thread
Mine is 8600 for both of us with airfare for like 12 nights or something. Its for 2 islands, bora bora and moorea... overwater bungalow in bora bora and a garden with private poll bungalow on moorea. I know thats longer than you asked for but just to give you an idea.i think i saw some deals in the 4000 range and upwards. im sure you might even find it for a little less if you research.

OK so did you like Moorea? I saw someone was less than pleased with it.. which happens.. and can happen almost anywhere.
Do you have any recomendations of excursions that you went on and loved or wished you did? Anything you could recommend would be appreciated! TIA!

Like me, if you go, you will be going during the popular time so unfortunately the prices are higher.

we are also looking into the other less popular islands of Tahiti to stay for most of our HM to save money. Right now we are looking into doing most of our stay in Manihi and then do 2-3 days Bora bora.

Re: Bora Bora Thread
to cut some costs what we did was... stay in Moorea for some of the time, instead of Bora Bora the whole time. Also while on Moorea we will be staying in a Garden Bungalow with a private pool instead of an overwater bungalow. the overwater bungalows are super expensive. And to be perfectly honest... I can't say i am upset about staying in a garden bungalow with my own private pool! I mean come on... that will still be a very nice place! In Bora Bora we did the overwater bungalow. We also didn't pick a super expensive resort like St.Regis. I read a lot of reviews on 3 and 4 star hotels... and we are willing to not stay in a 5 star resort to save some money. In the end cutting these things made it a certain that we can go! I can't wait!

Re: Bora Bora Thread
So I just heard from my TA that the airline Air Tahiti Nui is stopping their nonstop flights from JFK to Tahiti for good. We were planning to go back to tahiti and thought this would be our best bet. Looks like we will have to use our mileage now to get to Los Angeles. Oh well, guess we will save some money this way! We have family out there so we will probably just stay a day or so in LA. Tahiti is so beautiful! Nothing will stop us from going back!So has anyone here been to Huahine?
cheers!

We booked the flight direct from LAX and my original plan was to use the miles for the airfare to LAX. I didn't know they actually stopped doing the direct flights.
I know they did change the times they fly out. So we are waiting to book the flights to LAX until we are closer to the date. Either way my miles can be redeemed for a free round trip flight (domestic)... so I should be covered.
Thanks for the info!

I wasn't upset over a garden bungalow either..we did this in moorea! lol how could you be...even in a garden bugalow its amazing (unlike anything you have seen). and also I think all of the resorts in the french polynesian islands were beautiful..they all had something unique about them! and a three star hotel there is comparable to a 5 star anywhere else..the islands are beyond gorgeous!
