Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
Ok, I called the Ritz Carlton and here is the lowdown on tea. They actually do it 7 days a week, between 2-4:30 pm, but given those times, it seems like a weekend day would be best. There are three options for tea:
$20 - tea with scones, cakes & strawberries
$26 - everything above plus pastries & finger sandwiches
$31- everything above plus champagne
Here is the most important part: Reservations need to be made a MINIMUM of 2-4 weeks in advance! Sometimes, she told me, they book up a month ahead of time for a weekend.
So, if this is something we want to do, we should pick a date ASAP and I will make the reservation!

Wow! I just saw this post! I'm game, if I'm not in NY. We're trying to schedule as many trips as possible in March and April.

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
Do y'all want to vote on a date/time? I propose 3 pm as the time. Here are some of the date options:Saturday March 22
Sunday March 23
Saturday March 29
Sunday March 30
Sunday April 6
Others?
Maybe everyone can either post or FM me to say a) whether you want to attend and b) which dates are good or bad for you (maybe you can rank order them or at least say which would be absolute no-gos).

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
Hi Ladies!! I am finally back. just got in about 1 am last night
i feel like i got hit by a bus. only 5 hours in the plane for a 45 minute flight!
anyway, so far March 2,
March 8 and
March 22 look good.
March 30 will probably be okay (although I may be having some salon time that day, but that really is another topic, i will still need to eat at some point!
)oh my gosh, getting close!!!!!!

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
It took you 5 hours to get home by plane?
I am flying out on Friday and have a weekend full of appointments from meeting with florists to my first hair trial.

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
Hey Jenny! Don't worry, that was only because of the snow and the fact that BWI only had ONE bloody runway open. The flight only lasted 45 minutes, but we sat on the runway at Islip until BWI said go. it was really quite unsettling. after we landed the next plane was only 10 seconds behind us and there were 3 more planes behind that one just lined up to land. they really need to get their S*** together at BWI man. but really, by Friday you should be fine. Islip was totally cool. they stayed open the WHOLE time. JFK and Laguardia closed, but Islip was still crankin, gotta hand it to them!!!Don't worry and good luck getting stuff done! BTW - who are using for your hair trial??

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
I'd be very curious as to who all of you are using for hair. Right now, I'm looking at Bocu and Cactus in Commack, or possibly Jennifer from Fairytale, but I don't think my mom is too keen on having it done in the house. My main concern is the cost, though...isn't it sick what they charge just for a TRIAL?? It's especially bad for me because I am having a 'trial' done here by my stylist in VA. I just got the veil my girlfriend made for me (it's really pretty...she did such a good job!!) and I want to have Joyce (my stylist here) play with it and my hair to decide what I even want done. MAN, this is gonna cost me a fortune!!More importantly, though, I went ahead and made us a reservation at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City for tea on Saturday, March 22, at 3 pm, since that sounded like the date we all most had in common. I figured better safe than sorry since they book up so far in advance; I can always change or cancel it later, depending on people's responses. I made it for 8 people and figured we could adjust up or downwards as needed. Let me know what you think!!

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG?
ARGGGHHHHH!!!!! I am going crazy. My FI told me he and his brother were going to look at tuxes at Pentagon City on March 22 and now he just told me that, no, he wants to go to Tyson's and that he really wants me to come along. So now I can't come to this!
CRAP. Would anyone be interested in switching the location to Tyson's instead??
If not, what is our second most preferred date? Should we try for March 29??
Let me know ASAP and I'll change the reservation.

Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG? - Please see info at end of message re date and RSVP ASAP!
My hair trial is at Marcucc in Malverne. I used to go there when I lived in LI and still do when I have a wedding or just need my hair blown out. I want something pretty simple so I'm going to try them first. They are charging me $45 for the trial. My backup is Maximus in the Source mall but they are pretty pricey and have major attitude everytime I call.
But I know they will do a great job. I am almost willing to chance it and not have a trial but my parents and fiancee know me too well and are insisting that I do it.
Tea sounds lovely ladies. Hope you are staying dry in all this snow!

I prefer Tyson's although I will probably get lost going to either one.
But Pentagon City is cool with me if that's where everyone else wants to go.

HI girls!! Sorry I've been out of the loop- been snowed in in Boston for 2 extra days!! Was supposed to return on Monday night- but, well, that certainly didn't happen-just got back a little while ago after spending 4 hours shoveling out Dave's car at BWI, then my car at his place.. (note.. shoveling is MUCH easier when using a shovel, and not an umbrella!) Anyway, March 22 would be better for me. But definitely go with the majority- it is important that Jo gets some support group time in before her big day!! Jo-- BTW, I definitely agree about BWI, I had some choice thoughts about them and their satellite parking bus system today!!!

Hi Girls, Alison please don't stress. actually, either day is fine for me. and either location. it sounds like you might not be able to do March 22, and that is totally okay! Just let us know which day you end up choosing, but right now, March 22 and March 29 are okay!!i hope you are all doing well. I am really starting to stress about the hair and make up thing. i have no idea who i am going to use on a Sunday morning in suffolk!!!!! salons are just OUTRAGEOUS in the amount of money they want to open up on a Sunday!!! i cannot believe it!!!
