Re: DC brides...how bout a weekend tea for our next GTG? - Please see info at end of message re date and VOTE NOW!!!
Jo, have you looked at Bocu in Commack or any of the Cactus Salons? They are all open Sundays and they are the two I am considering for my wedding hair and makeup...As for the tea, ok, since March 22 looks like the better date for most people and since there doesn't seem to be a location preference, I went ahead and changed the reservation. It is now for 4:30 pm at the Tyson's Ritz Carlton on Sat, March 22. .
However, here is the twist...not only could they not give us a time other than 4:30 (we get two hours, so it would be 4:30-6:30), Tyson's wants a credit card number to hold a reservation for more than 6 people!! So, I only made it for 6...if I need to up the number, I can hold it on my credit card, if I know 100% for certain there will be more of us going. Also, they don't have room for more than 8-10 of us at most, so keep that in mind (they told me if there are more than 10 of us, we'd have to change the date!).
Right now, it looks like the following people want to come:
Joanne (JoRo)
Jenny (rvcpl)
Alison (slpbridetobe)
Laura (positanos)
Ann (Anniegrl)
dgtlsunshine (I don't remember your name..?)
with me, that makes SEVEN. If everyone on the list above is a definite, and if there is anyone else who wants to join us, I need to know as I will have to call back with my credit card.
Alternately, I can just make the reservation for the following Sat (March 29) at Pentagon City.
Just let me know ASAP, thanks!
Alison

I am actually going to be in VA that day (3/22), but I am going to spend the weekend with FH, FH's brother and SIL. I think SIL wants to go wine tasting, so I don't think I will be able to make it. More than likely I will not be in any condition to be having tea at the Ritz
If for some reason you change the date to the 29th, I can make it. But don't go out of your way for me.

Oh no, Becky, bummer!
Are you sure you can't make it? It's not til 4:30...Well, if it turns out more people are good for the March 29 date and we switch it, I will let you know!
Right now, we're up to 4 definites for March 22 at Tyson's...

Ok, count to date for March 22 is 5:Joanne
Laura
both Alisons
Ann
Jenny, are you in? That would make 6.
What about dgtlsunshine? If we get up to 7 or more, I need to change the reservation and slap down the old credit card...

Hey Alison. I say you keep the reservation at 6. If 7 show up, are they going to turn us away? Do we get a different room with 7 as opposed to 6?? unless it has to be a different room (which i don't see why it would) i can't see why you should put it on your CC at this point.I am so excited about this. THank you so much for organizing (again!!). Hooray!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG? - VOTE NOW!!
Ordinarily I would agree with that, but when I called they seemed VERY strict about the numbers...said they were 'already squeezing (us) in'...would you believe?!
I must say, I got a far better reception when I called Pentagon City originally...they even asked if we were celebrating anything special. Oh well, guess Tyson's is just snootier.
If we end up with 7 people, we'll just squeeze in, I don't think anyone would mind! I was just concerned if there were going to be MORE than 7 (like 8-10), is all.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG? - VOTE NOW!!
Room for 1 more? I didn't reply sooner because I wasn't sure if Mom & Dad were coming into town that weekend. They're not so if I could squeeze in I would love to finally meet my fellow DC Long Islanders
I know the numbers are tight so if there's no room I totally understand since I am a late-comer and I will just be sure to be there for the next one! Thanks ladies, you can FM me too.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG? - VOTE NOW!!
Hi!! And Welcome!!Yes, we'd love to have you along! Like some of the girls said, I think if it's just 7 of us (which it would be with you), and the reservation is for 6, they would probably let us squeak by.
But if there's more, please let me know ASAP. Is dgtlsunshine coming, does anyone know?? That would make 8 of us, in which case I really do need to up the reservation and reserve it on my credit card.
Let me know!!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
Just checking in since this is 2 weeks from tomorrow...Joanne (JoRo)
Jenny (rvcpl)
Laura (positanos)
Ann (Anniegrl)
flyin'bride (name?)
...and me makes 6.
Unfortunately, the other Alison (slpbridetobe) FM'd me with a conflict, so she can't make it.
But I will look forward to seeing the rest of you soon. If there are any other conflicts or concerns, 'speak now or forever hold your peace' (haha, just practicing!
); seriously, let me know and we can adjust if necessary.Otherwise, see you soon, and have a great weekend! I hear it might hit 60 tomorrow...!!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
BUMP for Monday.
Also wanted to see if any DC brides would be willing to share experiences on local (DC area) places for the following:
-shoes
-gloves
-tuxes
-wedding rings
We want to try to do all these things locally and, in fact, have an appointment at After Hours in Tyson's to look at tuxes before the tea. Any feedback is appreciated!
