Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
Hey Allison (and all the DC/Baltimore brides). I wanted to say that I also am looking for places to buy rings. My e-ring is a funky shape, the band is slightly squared, but not completely, so I think I will need to have something made. Any suggestions? Also, I am having a terrible time picking a headpiece. Any great places with a nice selection?

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
I am stressing over the ring thing, too. My ring isn't that oddly shaped but it has a diamond offset by two rubies. We were in St. Michaels this weekend and found a really great curved ring that fits it so nicely, but then I got so confused because the woman was talking about having it soldered to the e-ring, which I am 99% sure I don't want to do. I can't afford to buy two wedding bands, but now I don't know if I get the curved one will it look weird if I wear it alone (w/o the e-ring)??The other place we liked was Bailey Banks and Biddle in Pentagon City. They told us there was a jeweler there Wed and Sat nights who could do custom orders. But I'm not sure we want to spend that much...
What to do?!!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
I am having a tough time with the rings as well. I think we may end up going to good ol' Fortunoff's.As for shoes, definitely check out My Glass Slipper in Alexandria. They have a huge selection.
Tuxes, I think we are going to Mens' Warehouse in Rockville to check out the selection and hopefully we can coordinate with a NY location.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
Hi Girls! I am so sad that I can't make it to the tea!! I do hope we have another one before too long! I think for tuxes we are going to take a look at one of the After Hours locations too... Rings- NO idea whatsoever! The thing I am overwhelmed by right now is the invitations- are you girls going to someone for them, or ordering them online? I have a million catalogues, and several that I like, but don't know what more people do- online or in person!!!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
Can you believe I found my invites at Party City? And they give you 30% off. There's a paper store in Montgomery Mall that had lovely things and Bethesda has several paper/party planning places.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
I had the printer I used to work with in my former job do the invites. Because he's a friend and former vendor, he cut me a deal.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
Hi Ladies, sorry long time no talk! going slightly nuts and took a little break form LIW because of all of the drama which was making me feel crappy!
to answer some of the questions:
RINGS - having TONS of trouble (mostly b/c my e-ring is a solitaire that sticks out and i will have to have the matching wedding band specially made to 'lock' into it which means i couldn't ever wear it alone). Didn't like that SOOOOOO, we are getting very plain platinum bands ( mine is really thin, his is thicker) and when we have mroe money and for some anniversary, Chris will get me the matching wedding band made. I just didn't have time to bother with it all at this point. We are getting them from Diamondbee up in NY (St. James). She is WONDERFUL and is making my weddeing jewelry (necklace and matching earings from stones that my dad gave to me!)
INVITES - we looked and looked and i didn't like anything i saw in the books (i wanted recycled paper). LA Productions made my invites and i couldn't be happier.
SHOES - THANK YOU RVPCl, I went to myglassslipper and they had an AWESOME selection!! plus, just to be safe, i ordered 3 pairs online to make sure that i had some that i liked for my fitting (which is THIS SAT!!!!!!!)
highly recommend them. also, i like bridalshoes.com for online ordering!
VEIL: I finally found one at Lady Hamilton in Arlignton. definitely worth checking out. Ask for Jackie. She is the best and she loves NY girls!!! if they don't have it, they can make it for you!!!!!
good luck everybody, cannot wait to see you all soon. Heading up (hopefully for the last time) this Friday. My first fitting is Saturday and my shower is sunday!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!!

She is so funny, isn't she?! I am looking forward to debriefing with everyone a week from Sat...Can't wait to see Ann's ring! And, Jo, you better bring some shower pictures!!

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG
hi girlssorry i didn't jump into this thread sooner. this sat is my birthday so i won't be able to make the tea. i hope you guys have a great time!
i'm also having trouble with rings. i found one at fortunoff's that is really nice and fits pretty well with my ring (though i still think wearing two rings looks weird). but then i went to where i got my e-ring and they said they could custom make one to fit perfectly but it's $1000 more than the ring at fortunoff's and i don't think we can afford that :( so not sure what i'm gonna do.
anyway....

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG THIS Saturday 3/22!
Hey everyone! I am a big MAYBE for this Saturday.
Sorry to punk out at the last minute but I have so much to do and am starting to freak out a bit. I will do my best to make it though.

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG THIS Saturday 3/22!
Aw, Jenny, please don't punk out...we want to see you!! I think we're all feeling the stress right now and could use a nice GTG as a release (at least that's how I'm feeling). That said, if people think this really isn't a good idea, let me know and I'll cancel our reservation. Lord knows I have plenty of other wedding crap I need to get done and, as much as I want to see everyone, would rather wait for another day if there is only going to be 3 of us there...

Re: DC brides...weekend tea GTG THIS Saturday 3/22!
Okay ladies. If anyone needs to punk out because of stress it is ME. But, i am really looking forward to our tea and i am not going to miss it!! (Jenny I completely understand and this isn't directed towards you at all).Sometimes when you are really really stressed, a little breather like this is very good. and you will be surprised at how productive you are afterward!! I am excited to see everybody again. I have to figure out how to get some pictures developed before Sat. Unfortunately, the club that we went to for my bachelorette did not allow pictures, so the ones you REALLY want to see, are not available.
I hope everyone is doing well. see you soon,
-jo
PS - i have a funny e-ring and had to have my band custom made to match. Almost ANY jewelry store can do it. Keep looking and you may find it cheaper!!

Re: Sorry!
I'm sorry to say that I can't come on Saturday. I have a make-up class (from the crazy snow storm) and attendance is 'mandatory.' I wish I could catch up with you guys and hear all about your progress!Have fun! Alison, I hope this doesn't cause you any problems with the reservation. If you can't get reimbursed, just let me know and I'll send a check.

Re: Sorry!
Wow, good thing I didn't have to put down my credit card, huh?!So how many of us does that leave? Jo, flyin', me...Annie, you still in? How about you, Jenny, what's the verdict? If it's just gonna be like 3 or 4 of us at most, should we maybe cancel or postpone??

Re: Sorry!
I hate to say this, know ing that it would be so nice to see you all, but maybe we should postpone if it is just 3 or 4 of us. It sounds like it is really a rough time for everyone. and i definitely do not want to be the cause of more stress. Definitely don't cancel though, postpone instead. and don't worry about me, have it whenever it is convenient!everybody chin up, our weddings are going to be amazing!!!!!

Re: Sorry!
Will you still be around next weekend, Jo, or would that be too stressful at the last minute?? I REALLY want to give you a nice sendoff before your wedding!I know some people had said that the 29th would work better, and I actually never did cancel the backup reservation I made for 3 pm at the Pentagon City Ritz...
Please let me know what you all think ASAP.
