that's so adorable. I keep wanting a puppy, but I'm allergic and we don't know if we can find a place that will allow us to have pets, so we're going to hold off for now, but when we get one it's going to be either a dachsund (sp?) or a cocker spaniel (both are 'hypoallegenic).

Congrats on the new family addition!

thank-you and just to let you know (i wasn't aware of this until we got her) but mini schnauzers are hypoallergenic AND non-shedding!! how great is that??

thanks to everyone for the congrats and well wishes-- we are so happy and this is a BIG lifestyle change for us b/c now she comes first and we never had to take care of anything like this before--so big challenge!!!

i'll def update later with pics OF her-- but she is the cutest thing and it's so funny when she goes to run, her paws have no traction so she slides on the wood floor for like three feet!!!

and last night she got the hiccups for the first time b/c she got excited-- and she hiccups and looks at my FH like 'WHATS THAT?!!!!' hahaha-- and then she does it again and has this look on her face like uh oh...

hahaa, IT BEGINS!!! now we are going to laugh at everything she does...

good point!!!

any veteran dog owners have any advice for the BEST way to paper train her or wee-wee pad train her?? i think it's best for us to paper or wee-wee pad train b/c its going to be too hard with our schedules to make sure we have time EVERY day to let her out in the yard-- so we thought the best way would be to make sure she always has a place to go-- on the pad and if we are outside she can go outside but for inside times the pad is the best, i mean she is so small...

any advice?!!! LOL first time puppy owner here!

I tried wee wee training....didn't work at all. I have a yorkie...they are subborn to begin with. So after a few months we decided to crate train....and it worked so much better.

I have a shitzu, & when i got him i was in the same situation, was hard fro me to walk him & stuff, .. For like 1 few weeks I crate trained him & then when i let him out i immed put paper down on the kitchen floor & plopped him on it. Eventually he knew what it was for,,

Also if you put their food near the paper, they wont go or eat , gotta keep it seperated,,

My dog barely goes outside, mind you he is like 5 pounds, so his 'shitzu's ' are lil logs, LOL
So i levae the newspapae down in the morning , just in case ,,

HTH , any questiosn justr ask ?
