Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

We picked our date soley because of price. Before we were engaged, I joked that we were going to get married Oct. 17, 2008 because it is our anniversary and falls on a Fri. However we didn't want to wait that long. We picked 1/15/06 because it is a holiday weekend and most people we know are off for Martin Luther King day. I have grown to love this date now!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

Well, we knew we wanted to get married in Aug, and on a sunday. So we just really randomly picked it. Then just before we went to book the hall, we told his grandmother (who passed away recently) what our date was...it turned out to be her wedding anniversary to FH's late grandfather. We knew it was fate at that point and we had to keep that date.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

We were definitely considering a Saturday in May, some time after I finished my first year of classes. My parents suggested that we have it on a Monday since it's easier for the members and workers of our church. We finally decided to switch over after we saw the price differences for the halls. We figured that a Monday before a holiday would be convenient for our OOT guests and for our guests who want to party late and not worry about going to work or church the next morning.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

I picked August because FI's family and friends are mostly teachers and come from England and only get about 6 weeks off during the summer. The hall had August 11th and the 18th open - I polled people on which date they liked better - everyone wanted the 18th, and I agreed.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

I always wanted a spring wedding but found out quickly that it was too much $$...We also knew we would need to do a Friday wedding bc we have small families..When we started to meet with halls, someone mentioned March 31st as the last Friday before the pricing jumped...I figured, you have the best chance of getting decent weather rather then the dead of winter...Plus it is my FG's birthday So now it is double the meaning!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

We picked it for several reasons

- it's the day we got engaged
- it will be my grandparents 56th anniversary to the very day of the week and holiday (they also got married Sunday of Labor Day weekend) Sept 3rd isn't always Labor Day weekend, so we took it as a sign!
- We have nothing to celebrate in September
- Great weather
- Lots of OOT guests, easier to travel on a holiday weekend.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

I picked 9/3/06 because my whole family has gotten married Labor Day weekend. I wanted to keep up the tradition and FH didnt really have a preference so it all worked out in the end.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

well, my formula was FAR less romantic....

when FH and I (finally) decided to get married, I wanted to do it sooner rather than later, but we needed time to plan.

I would have done it earlier in the year of '06, but FH is an accountant, so January through April 15 was OUT- so I decided I wanted it to be BEFORE I turned 31, giving us a window of April 16 to May 9th. we had tentatively decided on the last weekend in April (28th or 29th) but I fell in love with the Westbury Manor, which didn't have those dates available.

we were given the choice to go into May or the week before in April....that's when PRICE came in....it was $25 more to go ONE WEEK ahead into May....

Saturday April 22 was taken....so we snatched up April 23rd.....

only recently did I find out the significance of this date to us...(the whole Shakespeare thing from another post) I guess it was fate for us too!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

Well we first decided to get married in Oct of 05 but we wanted to save more so we pushed it up to 06. I wanted April but than I kept hearing it rains alot in April, then we were thinking May which would of been Memorial Day weekend. But we finally decided with June 9. I like the way it goes together 06/09/06. lol

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

We originally wanted May 21 but it was booked. So we decided to go with June 4 since it will be a bit warmer and we could have a nice outdoor ceremony.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

I wanted to have our wedding date be on or close to July 4th, since that is when my Nana and Grandpa were married. Since neither of them will be there in person (but surely in spirit ) I wanted to honor them by doing this, especially my Nana, who passed away just last year and she couldn't wait for us to take the big plunge!
With our large families spread out, the holiday weekend made perfect timing for us to have our wedding also.. many people from OOT, so we will be able to have people come in a little early and still have time to hangout with everyone before the wedding... I love wedding weekends!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

We wanted a beach-front reception - but didn't want to pay high-season rates. May 5th is the last weekend where they still charge off-season rates at my hall - - so we went with it.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

Am I the only one who planned around my period? LOL

Well, I always wanted May or June wedding and since I am on the pill, I figured out when I would get my period...then I picked the following week. I will have a second wedding overseas the following week, and then we go to honeymoon so if all goes well I won't get my period until I get back home!!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date???

Well I was the FG for my aunt and uncle's wedding back in '88 and they got married in June. It was so nice so I've always had this thought that it was a good month for weddings and I envisioned mine would be in June. Plus we both love the Spring, it's my fave season, so we went with that. And I knew I wanted a Saturday night, so that left 4 choices.

Then to narrow down the date, lol like Andreia, I sat down and figured out when I'm going to have my period from now until June '06. I'm also on the pill and I get it every 23 days, so I just counted off to ensure that I won't have it for the big day or our HM. So no Andreia, you're not the only one!!!
