Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
i soak with warm water and ammonia then scrub with a toothbrush. When I was in London, my ring got so scummy and gross. I had to soak it overnight then scrub it this morning for it to be decent.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
either jewelry cleaner (doesn't matter the brand), or windex and HOT water...the hotter, the better.Sometimes, if I'm on the go (like at work), a little dishsoap restores the sparkle

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
I use a jewelry cleaner in a jar from Tiffany. I was by there getting my necklace fixed and they had one for $10 so I bought it. It makes it nice and sparkly, but I might try that windex and hot water thing - I want to check that out!

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
i'm nervous to clean it with anything i have at home so once a month i just go back to the jewelry store where FH got the ring and they do a 10 minute cleaning for me and the ring shines just like the first time FH gave it to me

I bought the jewelery cleaner from Sharper Image - I just add Windex and water. the jewelerer where my Fh got my ring told me to only use Windex - and nothing else!

my aunt is a jeweler and she said to clean it with windex and hot water - she said GENTLY scrub with a toothbrush for spaces in under the setting.

Re: How do you clean your engagement ring?
toothpaste and a soft bristled toothbrush believe it or not!! most of the time i use my jewelry cleaner that i got at tiffany's (it works really well). but when i don't use that the toothpaste works and then i'll put some soft dish soap or windex in water in a mug, nuke it for a minute or so and then put the ring in (slide it in with a fork so it doesn't 'conk' in the mug which could loosen the setting)... once i do that it no longer smells like toothpaste and it sparkles so nice!!HTH

I heard that too, but I think they mean brushes with hard bristles. My cleaner came with a tiny brush with soft bristles I use to clean inbetween the prongs.

I use the cleaner the jeweler gave FH when he got the ring. It comes with a little brush.

exactly lots of jar cleaners come with a soft brush. A brush will not hurt a diamond.

yes i agree-- you can use a brush, they mean use soft bristled and you can find tooth brushes or brushes that come in the cleaners with very soft bristles... my jeweler recommended that to me as the best method to clean it (with toothpaste or a solution) and he's been in the business for over thirty years so i trust his judgement-- he did tell me not to use hard though so i can see what they mean by that.
