I wanted to stay around 15k....but with hm it might be a lil more...I am trying to do it classy, without looking cheap. I keep telling myself....have you ever noticed someone's centerpieces before....do you remember what colors the flowers were on the table, or decorating the ceremony? And the answer is NO!! Everyone will have a good time regardless of if you have a big high centerpiece, or a candle centerpiece...so that is how I am thinking. But....if we are on a tight budget...buying a house to live in is more important to us....![]()
That is the best advice I have heard yet! I just started planning and have a $35,000 budget for about 170 ppl. Looking at centerpieces i thought the bigger the better because it makes the whole room. But you're right! I don't remember the centerpiece from ONE wedding i've been to! Ha ha! Great point!

Agreed!
I count the HM as a vacation so I'm not including that in my wedding costs. By the time we get married we will be long overdue for a vacation!

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
Your budget totally depends on your taste and style. My FH and I are very detailed on how we'd like our wedding so it's costing us a lot more than we originally planned. However, we make sure that it's within our range. You don't want to end up broke after the wedding so if you have a strict budget, you may need to search for more vendors. Good luck!

You know, I would have agreed with you a year ago, but now that we're in contract for everything, I can honestly say that's not necessarily true! You can have really high standards (as most brides on this site do
) and still be in some sort of budget. We compromised on hardly ANYTHING. We have high end invitations, calligraphy, cake, gown/veil, limo, hall, bar, flowers, FH purchased a designer tux.... Even the cake-topper is over the top... We're still coasting at about 20k.
It all comes down to a couple things:
Size of bridal party and guest list (small = budget friendly!)
time of year/day of week/afternoon vs evening (our compromise was sat AFTERNOON in june)
vendors you book
For items that are manufactured (gown / tux/ veil / reception items), go to discount vendors. The quality will be the same becuase lladro is lladro! I did a lot of RK bridal, syms, ebay..... and saved at least 50% on those items.
For services (florist, DJ, limo, cake) we went with reputation first. That doesn't necessarily mean the most $$$, it just means cost wasn't the primary factor.
why could we get away with 20k for a june sat wedding with high end everything? we only have 70 people invited... can't tell you how much that saves... also, we saved 40% by having an afternoon (vs evening) reception....

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
Right now we are at around $23,000 for a Sunday night in November for 120 people. This is including everything, including the honeymoon.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I had a very small wedding. You can spend as little as $5K to over $70K.
It all depends on how many guests, style of your wedding, cost of your dress, RH, etc..
Everything is possible. You just have to know that the cheapest you want to go the more 'sacrifice' you have to make or the more research to be creative. For example, making your own invitations, etc...
Again, a small wedding budget does not mean a 'cheap' wedding. You can have a beautiful wedding on a small budget.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
we are hoping to stay under $20,000 looks like we are going to do it. We gotr a great package deal at Wedding World including tuxes, limos (and a rolls royce!) video, awesome photographer, and all the weding party and parents flowers! now all we need is DJ and the hall!! You can find lots of great vendors at a 'cheaper' price you just gotta look into it. GOOD LUCK

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
Ours will probably end up around $25,000. Originally it was supposed to be $15,000, but we didn't factor everything in. I started out thinking, 'oh, I don't need XYZ' but then, yeah, I changed my mind and so did FH!The thing that stinks is that we wanted to buy a condo this summer, but our down payment went to the wedding instead. Another year of renting for us!

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I just looked at the numbers last night. Fh and I were hoping to do it at 25,000. Once we started looking into rh we knew that was almost impossible for what we wanted. So we are looking at about $30,000. But we have done a lot so far and we are only at $22,000. We just need limos, honeymoon, and night of accomodations and we are pretty much done. So we aren't going over our buget.
