Re: I am soooooo MAD!!!!!!! SORRY I NEEDED TO VENT

I've been following this thread. And its really gotten out of hand. I think we've all made our points and obviously there is no right answer to this sensitive subject.

Gigi - I hope everything work out for you this weekend.

Re: I am soooooo MAD!!!!!!! SORRY I NEEDED TO VENT

I haven't had time to read all 3 pages of responses.

but, here's my own situation.

because of cost, we had to set an age limit of 20 years old. So, I had to cut out about 8 of my little cousins.

Now, one of fi's cousins wants to bring his daughter as his date because he's getting divorced.

So, because I've excluded others, I will have to tell this man that he can't bring his daughter.

Maybe your cousin is in a similar situation.

Re: I am soooooo MAD!!!!!!! SORRY I NEEDED TO VENT

Is there any way they can slap a flower girl dress on her real quick and have you carry her down the aisle? That would be ADORABLE!

Honestly....it's a tough situation, for both parties....I wouldnt know what to do....I am a pushover, though. I would probably make the exception and tell everyone else to mind their business....then apologize to them profusely for saying that....

Re: I am soooooo MAD!!!!!!! SORRY I NEEDED TO VENT

Ok -- this thread did get out of control and it's apparently a sensitive issue and not to fuel the fire, but I guess I can put it my 2 cents too before this thread gets locked!

I respect that people without children don't exactly know what people WITH children have to deal with. I'm a firm believer in 'unless you've been through it... you don't really know'. That said, I *personally* in this situation would *probably* make the exception for my BM and tell everyone else in the family who had a problem with it to kiss my rosy red butt!

BUT... I ALSO completely understand the bride's dilemma and possible state of mind. It's a few days before her wedding, she's probably stressed to no end, the last thing she cares about is her BM's kid, who she didn't even want at her wedding to begin with. I don't think it makes her a selfish person. And if it does, then she is allowed to be a 'little' selfish for a few hours ONE day of her life. Sometimes, (and please don't take this wrong way and it doesn't apply to everyone) SOME people with children are also selfish and they expect the rest of the world to make special exceptions for them all the time and bend over backwards for them just because they have small children. BELIEVE ME it happens... ALOT. And THAT goes on for years... this bride is only asking for a few hours of peace on her wedding day. For people without children, of course, this is way more evident than for people WITH children and sometimes it's difficult for us to tell the difference.

All I'm saying is that I can see both sides of the issue and that the selfish thing DEFINITELY goes both ways, and I don't really think that either party is wrong and BOTH have the right to be a little upset but I don't think that Gigi should be 'soooooo' mad at the bride. Just like the bride shouldn't be so mad at her OR so rude to her.

Good luck -- hope you find a sitter and hope your FMILs mom is okay!
