Re: Is it ok to wear white?
no there are no rules like that--the wedding police will not come and haul you away. annnnd if you want to get really technical, the custom to wear white came from being a virgin and c'mon we live in modern times!

Re: Is it ok to wear white?
If only virgins wore white, there would be a rush on colored wedding gowns. If someone said that to me I would punch them..and then I would tell them that i am pure, my love for FH is pure and no one can take that away from me

Re: Is it ok to wear white?
Actually I red somewhere that the tradition of wearing a white dress had nothing to do with the purity of the woman.Oh and tell that woman to suck it

Re: Is it ok to wear white?
oh PUH-leze!! Of course you can wear white!here is a bit on traditions of weddng attire:
During the medieval and renaissance periods, wedding dresses were basically just more elaborate versions of contemporary styles, displaying a wealth of intricate embroidery, beading, expensive fabrics, and dyes. The white wedding dress as we recognize it today is actually a tradition started by Queen Victoria who wore white to her own wedding. In fact, up until the late 19th century, brides wore just about any color for their wedding gown, including black if the intended bridegroom was a widower. For example, in early Celtic cultures, red was the bridal color of choice, worn to invoke fertility, as evident in Elizabethan silk weaver turned balladeer Thomas Deloney's description of a German bride's attire as a 'gowne of sheepes russet, and a kirtle of fine worsted.'

Re: Is it ok to wear white?
Britain is a place that is rife with traditions and legends, so it is little wonder that the tradition of the white wedding dress was started by the English Monarchy. It was the wedding of Queen Victoria that spawned the interest and popularity of white wedding dresses as we know them today.Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe in 1840, and wore what would then have been considered a flamboyant white gown. Of course, this did not start the tradition immediately; however, many women saw this as a statement of class and style, and copied the Queen by also getting married in white.
The white wedding dress in those days had nothing to do with being virtuous - it was all about wealth. Getting married in a white, extravagant gown was a sign that you could afford to buy a dress that you would never be able to wear again because of its style and color (whites were not easy to clean in those days as they are today!).

Re: Is it ok to wear white?
That woman needs to go stuff it!!!How dare she say something so incredibly rude to you!! If the old rule applied of being 'pure' in order to wear white, almost all of us would have to wear pink or red!!!!
