my friend wrote to me that she and her husband cannot come because it is their anniversary. Um, I would have gotten them a cake..but ok

and the other one is my freind from boston who cannot come because her brother's wedding is the week after mine. that was her excuse.

My DH can't get any vacation days.

That's why I had my wedding on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend...no vacation days needed!!!

OMG i cant believe people are actually coming up with such lame excuses!! Do you say something to them about it? Or just never bring it up..I dont know what id do!! I got one no response but they didnt write anything...it was my boss

I guess its better than the people (and we had many!) who respond yes and NEVER SHOW UP! We had 13 people do this!

My Godfather isn't coming because he's antisocial and doesn't have anyone to watch his dog

ETA: I forgot! My mom has 3 cousins, all with kids. Well one and her husband aren't coming because they have to watch the kids.

How old are they you ask? 14-19.



It's a Sunday day wedding. And most of them live in the same apartment building.

Well........she was 5 days late....my response cards were due August 1--and sadly, this is a friend I've know for many, many years........but its OK.....just wish she could've used something a bit more beleivable since she knew the date for over a year now........

i know how u feel. a friend of mine says she'll be on the east coast the end of aug visiting a friend. she doesn't know if she could get more time off. one of the things she's doing here is seeing clay aiken. she knew the date as soon as i booked my date

Not on the response card, but the night before the wedding I had 5 of DH's family members call and tell me they weren't coming because they had the flu. They appointed one family member to make the call.

If you weren't coming to the wedding you could have given me the courtesy of some notice.

This are the same family members that brought their DIL to be to my shower and announced her engagement to me as I walked in the door of the place. I never met the girl and she wasn't invited. Not her fault, but the relatives just have their heads up their butt!

no, I have the best...

For the shower the excuse was that at the last minute she had a bad case of the runs, but wanted to meet up later on to give me my gift she bought at Tiffany's....well ***, I'm still waiting and the shower was in January. I even saw her a few weeks later and she never mentioned this famous 'gift'.

For the wedding...this one takes the cake. She actually responded yes, but I should have known better. She was a no show, and leaves a message on my cell phone that she got lost. With direction cards, phone # to Russo's in hand, she calls me...and hello, I'm like, getting married!!! She said that she felt that she was lost once she saw the signs for Riverhead...my wedding was in Queens!!!!!!!

can you say....dumb a**!!!!!!!!!!



PS: Still waiting for shower AND wedding gift...and waiting...and waiting....

For my SIL's bridal shower my mom's best friend she couldn't come because her back will hurt that day.

For my shower my sister received a call a couple of days before from an original yes. One of my friends, her family pet died and they were holding the memorial service that day. I got a call from her, her parent's bird died and that was the day of the ceremony???

I also got an it's my anniversary....okay...I trekked out to NJ for your wedding....whatever..

DH's friend responded yes, came to the church, never showed up to the reception. When asked what happened, he replied, 'I just started dating this girl, and she called and asked me to hang out.' ***??? Are you that hard up??? You couldn't tell her that you had a wedding to go to?
