For my SIL's bridal shower my mom's best friend she couldn't come because her back will hurt that day.

And how exactly did she know that in advance?

These excuses crap me up - you'd think people could at least come up with something believable!

My step brothers wife responded yes to my shower & then didn't show.

For my wedding a week after the response date I had to call her & she said 'I'm not sure yet if we can make it because my mom is planning my sisters bridal shower and I'm not sure of the date yet.' UMMMMMM..... tell mom dont plan this date because Jimmy's sister is getting married..... DUMB A$$

But all that really matters to her is HER family so needless to say they didn't come. She could have stayed home but would have been nice if my step-brother had come but I wouldn't invite the kids & guess he had to watch the kids.

I got one that wasn't a yes or a no, it said...

Not sure if Joe will be in town.

Like I have nothing better to do than to wait to find out. They have known about the wedding for 1 year and I sent out these invites 2 months prior to the RSVP date.

Another was someone who responded yes, and then we found out through mutual friends that he was planning a house warming party for that same day!! IDIOT!

over the weekend I received a very late RSVP...I had actually already figured that they wouldn't come...because they flaked out on my sister's wedding.

The excuse in the card was....Ralphy is scheduled to put up a fence that day.....my wedding is at night.
