Ok, here is my first verse of a completely new song...not for the contest or anything. Does everyone remember 'Parents Just Don't Understand' from back in the '80s? Ok, here is my take (verse one only). (Please be kind...it was written after a LONG day or studying! )

PEOPLE JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND

You know, people are the same all across the land
They don't understand that us brides have our weddings to plan!
My parents, my boss, yes, even my man…
They just don’t get it…people just don't understand

I remember one day, my mom took me dress shopping
It was me, seven bridesmaids, my mom, my aunt Dot,
And my little sister all behind the wheel
Crammed in all the way to Roosevelt Field

I couldn’t believe the dresses they all picked
What did they think, I was some sort of hick?!
And the words of advice from dear auntie Dot
Were “just be grateful ‘cause that’s better stuff than I ever got!”

And then sweet old gram in her powdered wig
Told me that the strapless that I loved made my chest look too big!
And things only got worse when my dear MOH
Decided to offer me a slap in the face

She said, “Hon, this is great, but I’ve got to leave now
This dress you picked for me makes me look like a cow
I also just realized that your wedding date
Is my puppy dog’s birthday…so I’ll have to come late.”

I said, 'You’ve got to be kidding, you’re my very best friend
You need to be there at the start and stay til the end!”
She said, “maybe so, but I’ve been meaning to say
You place far too much importance on your wedding day”

That was it, the very last straw
I just couldn’t take these people anymore!
I had to get back to my only reward
My computer and the LIW message board!

I took a deep breath and tried to calm down
And pretty soon was joking with my girls like a clown
They made me laugh and they sympathized
And before long tears were rolling out of my eyes

I was laughing so hard my dad heard down the hall
And ran over to make sure that I didn’t fall
But when he saw what had made me smile once again
He told me I belonged in a looney bin!

For the next six hours I tried to explain to my folks
Why I loved so much all the LIW jokes
So tell you other brides all across the land
They just don’t get it…parents just don't understand!

hehe good one. I sang that song in the trailor at Adenture Land with my four friends we were like 10!!

Okay seeing that you like the song so much here's what we are gonna do.

I didn't think about my lady
I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady
Have fallen into the same dull routine
So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad

And getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food
I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
At a bar called O'Malley's
Where we'll plan our escape.'

I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said, 'Oh it's you.'
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said, 'I never knew.'

Here we go, my entry

It was the sites own Ron and Liz
and they said 'oh its you'
then we LOLed for a moment
and i said 'I just knew'

I love wedding planning
getting caught in the fun
and the feel of dress shopping
and the doing the vendors run
I like meeting at get togethers
in the parts of New York
