Sorry to hear about that. I know what you're going through as well. More than a year ago my 93 year old grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. She's going for treatment at Sloan Kettering in Commack. She has her days but is doing really well.
It's definetely is a great hospital.

hugs and prayers for your grammy, too!
They are setting my grammy up at the one in Commack, as well!
She'll probably see my sister there...though i'm not exactly sure what she does LOL.
If you ever want to talk i'm here.
Thank you very much!!

They found a tumor on my gradma's lung about 4 weeks ago and after many tests, they found out it is cancerous.I have been holding off saying anything until we knew exactly what was going on and she went to Sloan Ketterin in the city yesterday and now we have the full scoop.
She has a cancerous tumor, several centimeters long. It is laying on her lung. After many tests (and prayers) the cancer has NOT spread. The surgeon at Sloan has set her up for four chemo treatments and then surgery. As she was leaving yesterday, he said, 'I am pretty confident that once this is all said and done, you'll be cured'. When we first found out about this, I did a lot of lung cancer research and, well, let's just say the chances of living are not very good. I could not be more thankful and grateful that they caught it early enough
When I was little, my mom was a single working mom and my grandmother spent a lot of time raising me and is EXTREMELY special to me... my grandfather is even walking me down the aisle, so to hear this news was devestating, but I truly feel in my heart that she is going to be fine and I look forward to celebrating not only mine and FH's love at our wedding, but her health and her's and my grandfathers 52nd wedding anniversary.
I'm not going to preach, however, if you are a smoker, think about what it is doing to your body. She smoked for 60 years and said she wishes she could give back every cigarette she ever smoked b/c the thought of chemo is scaring her to death. This, coming from a woman who said she'd never quite.
Thanks for letting me get this out and keep my family in your prayers.
ETA: i just re-read and it is all over the place... sorry, it's hard to talk about something like that
i know what you are going thru...im thinking of you

Sorry to read that. My prayers are with you and your family. FH works at MSKCC and he's always raving about how wonderful it is. I think she's in good hands going to that hospital. Tell her to be brave and she has you there every step of the way.

Your family is in my prayers!
Some of the girls may remember that I posted about my uncle a few months back. . . my uncle ( in his late 60s) was also diagnosed with lung cancer that had not spread. HE WAS NEVER A SMOKER! I find that so crazy. Anyway, he went to Sloan Kettering and they took GREAT care of him. . . they got it all out in one shot and this was in October. . . he is currently taking chemo pills and he is cancer free!! He is weak from the pills and the recovery but other than that he is okay! He even goes to work for a few hours each day!
Please FM me if you need to talk because i know how hard it is!! Sometimes, when you hear cancer . . . your mind just shuts off and you can't hear anything positive AFTER it. . . but hear MY positive story and find hope!
