They found a tumor on my gradma's lung about 4 weeks ago and after many tests, they found out it is cancerous.I have been holding off saying anything until we knew exactly what was going on and she went to Sloan Ketterin in the city yesterday and now we have the full scoop.

She has a cancerous tumor, several centimeters long. It is laying on her lung. After many tests (and prayers) the cancer has NOT spread. The surgeon at Sloan has set her up for four chemo treatments and then surgery. As she was leaving yesterday, he said, 'I am pretty confident that once this is all said and done, you'll be cured'. When we first found out about this, I did a lot of lung cancer research and, well, let's just say the chances of living are not very good. I could not be more thankful and grateful that they caught it early enough

When I was little, my mom was a single working mom and my grandmother spent a lot of time raising me and is EXTREMELY special to me... my grandfather is even walking me down the aisle, so to hear this news was devestating, but I truly feel in my heart that she is going to be fine and I look forward to celebrating not only mine and FH's love at our wedding, but her health and her's and my grandfathers 52nd wedding anniversary.

I'm not going to preach, however, if you are a smoker, think about what it is doing to your body. She smoked for 60 years and said she wishes she could give back every cigarette she ever smoked b/c the thought of chemo is scaring her to death. This, coming from a woman who said she'd never quite.

Thanks for letting me get this out and keep my family in your prayers.

I'm sorry about your grandmother. I just wanted to let you know that my father had a 3 inch cancerous growth on his lung in 1996. They removed more than 1/2 of his lung. He is FINE today and the cancer has not returned!! Please have faith that this will all work out.

My grandma had cancer 12 years ago in her lymph nodes under her arm. Well she recovered. But about 2 months ago they found a tumor on her stomach. Yup it is cancerous!! It came back but a different type of cancer and she is soo scared. She doesnt want to have to go through chemo and radiation again. And htey already did surgery on her stomach when they found it 2 months ago. Plus I never had any grandfathers they both passed away before any grandkids were born. So she is very important to me.

And my Nana (mom's mom) is sick as well and we dont think hse is getting much better. She had a heart attack a month ago and she had to have quadruple bypass surgery. She was in rehab then got out and caught phenmonia (sp?). She went back into the hopsital for 2 weeks now back out and she is just having such a hard time. But we almost thought we lost her during surgery. Now my Nana I am extremely close with so I completely understand. I got it on both sides and it s u c k s!!
