Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

the wedding was at a church, but the reception was wonderful. the food and cake were good. but you have to be honest with yourself and go with your gut feeling. if you don't feel comfortable, go somewhere else---

The reception went smoothly? B/c you should read some of these postings. They are scaring me.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

I'm sure every hall at one time or another has had a bad review. My sister had one of the most amazing weddings I've ever been to at the Crest Hollow, and I'm about to get married there myself and don't have one bit of anxiety that it won't happen as I want it.

But like Orchid said, go with your gut and what you are comfortable with.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

I am having my reception at CHCC in June. CHCC is very reputable & has been in business for a long time. I do agree that mistakes do happen. I think if you want to change your hall, then do so. There is no need to bring up bad postings about CHCC, everyone is entitled to their opinion (that is what this board is all about) If some of the posts are scaring you, then you already answered your own question...change your hall.

My family has had weddings at CHCC. They were beautiful which is why I originally booked it. I'm sure you're wedding will be nice.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

Here's my opinion on what happened, FWIW.

Someone 'who knows someone' wanted the date so they bumped flower.

I know someone who's dad knew somebody at a reputable NY catering hall (not CHCC), and got the hall to bump someone's wedding so his daughter's wedding could be there on the date they wanted. I can only assume that the bride who got bumped got a call just like flower did.

It happens. Oh, and it was not me who bumped someone else's wedding!

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

That's exactly what I thought happened. But it's upsetting that they can do that. If I, on the other hand, wanted to get out of the contract it wouldn't be that easy and I would owe them tons of money and they would sue me for it. Of course I can't do anything about it.

That is an interesting idea. I could totally see that happening.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

If I were you, I would tell them that you want more than what you paid. You need to get some sort of compensation!!! I am sure it will be very difficult to find a new venue to have your wedding. They probably got a lot of $$$$ from someone else on that day. Also, find a family friend who is an attorney.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

They absolutely bumped you for another either more expensive or more 'high profile' wedding. It's impossible that after all this time and meeting with 3 different people tha they didn't catch it...I wouldn't want to do business with them.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

WOW...UNBELIEVABLE...you know I had a negative experience with them once before as well. When I was looking to choose halls to check out, I called them once asking if they accomodated smaller weddings and I got some rude witch on the phone that sounded like she chain-smoked...I've heard some horror stories about them from other people as well, so maybe its meant to be. Take the money and RUN from that place.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow

No, this didn't happen to us. Orginally, the day we wanted was book and they let us know right off the bat, when we scheduled our wedding date. I am shocked, b/c they were so nice to us too. I know that is rude what they did I agree, but if they can upgrade you on another day then I would still have your wedding there. We had the most perfect, beautiful wedding there! Everyone commented on how beautiful the hall was and how great the food was and that is important. So, if they can give you an upgrade or something, I would definalty keep it there! The really impressed me, my dh and my guests! You won't regret it!

This is interesting and true! My FH and I looked at a LI hall and were told that certain dates were booked, etc... Then we got a phone call from a manager saying- why didnt you tell me you were 'whoevers' daughter! Come in and we will talk. I explained it wasnt the price why we didnt book- it was bc the room we wanted was booked. The manager said that the owner specefically asked him to call us and tell us to come in and they will figure out how to get us the room we want for the date we want!

Basically..... even if the wedding was almost free, FH and I were like- that is SOOOO wrong. I would not want to take someone elses date! And yes, it is nice to 'know' people but when it came down to it- we were like as 2 people off the street- they had no problem turning us away.

My point- it happens just like NYCtoSEA said.
