Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow
I would take my $$ back and tell them to go (Bleep, Bleep). That is sooo messed up!! That's why these places that do so many weddings don't give a ****, you are just another penny in their pocket in these typical wedding factories. That is the biggest reason we booked with a different type of place.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow
wow, this thread is turning into a monster...i know what chcc did was horrible, but my experience was that the vendors i had that had rave reviews on here gave me problems, (just ask my DOC Rosalie, she'll tell ya!) it goes to show each person's experiences are different.
the old wedding factory thing is getting a bit old in my opinion. the truth of the matter is, does the whole wedding industry REALLY give a sh*t about our weddings?
maybe a few but most, i think not. remember, as much as this is the most important day in our lives, it's not to them. just like healthcare, the field i work in--- it's a business and well, business sometimes=evil.
don't mean to sound too negative, but that's just how i see it.

OMG WHAAAAAAAAAAAT??????? how can they do that?? you signed a contract, right?![]()
IMO, take your deposit back and be done with them! what's to stop them from doing it again?
I don't even know if that is legal. check the contract!
O-M-G I would not have my wedding there, that is obscene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow
My wedding at Crest Hollow was absolutely fantastic.....they were my star vendor of the day. I'm sorry that this is happening to you. What are they offering you in return for their error? When did you book them? How long did they wait before telling you that they overbooked?I don't know about all the other 'negative comments/reviews'.....all the girls on here who actually had their wedding there were thrilled with them.
I wish some of my other vendors came through as well as CHCC.

This is terrible. I think you have to have some recourse here...Did you call FT? Are they available on your date?
Good luck!

Here's my opinion on what happened, FWIW.
Someone 'who knows someone' wanted the date so they bumped flower.
I know someone who's dad knew somebody at a reputable NY catering hall (not CHCC), and got the hall to bump someone's wedding so his daughter's wedding could be there on the date they wanted. I can only assume that the bride who got bumped got a call just like flower did.
It happens. Oh, and it was not me who bumped someone else's wedding!
This is interesting and true! My FH and I looked at a LI hall and were told that certain dates were booked, etc... Then we got a phone call from a manager saying- why didnt you tell me you were 'whoevers' daughter! Come in and we will talk. I explained it wasnt the price why we didnt book- it was bc the room we wanted was booked. The manager said that the owner specefically asked him to call us and tell us to come in and they will figure out how to get us the room we want for the date we want!
Basically..... even if the wedding was almost free, FH and I were like- that is SOOOO wrong. I would not want to take someone elses date! And yes, it is nice to 'know' people but when it came down to it- we were like as 2 people off the street- they had no problem turning us away.
My point- it happens just like NYCtoSEA said.
Very interesting..............
I have heard of a hall having it in the contract that they can cancel a wedding on short notice.
Sweetnessconfused posted about it.........
She was hesitant to book because of a 'clause in the contract which says if they double book them may cancel my affair up to 3 days prior' to the wedding
Can you imagine having to move your wedding with 3 days notice

They said they 'accidently' double booked it. How do you do that? PLUS - I was working with 3 sales managers - they ALL didn't see that it was already booked. The reason I was working with 3 was b/c each weekend I went to look a different one helped me which was a little annoying too.
Wow, is this deja vu? I had this exact thing happen to me at Leonards and was given that exact explanation. Also was told I could 'rebook' or 'not'...I chose not and I can tell you my wedding was AMAZING and I'm glad this happened. Things happen for a reason...consider yourself lucky and good luck with booking another hall. I know I booked 'short' (in Oct for May since that's when I found out my date was cancelled) and got a great cancelled date. It CAN be done...good luck!

My mother told me to pick another date at CH b/c they would never cancel again. But then again no one thought they would cancel the first time.
I didn't read the whole thread because it got kinda odd...but in addition to what I wrote above I wanted to say that this was the second time my date was cancelled at the hall I mentioned above. Well, the third. DH and I went to look at it and were told we could have X room because of our guarantee (small). We weren't thrilled but picked the hall anyway and signed the contract. Then we were called and told, 'I'm sorry, X owner's friend has a party in that room, we'll upgrade you to this room, it's larger'. We should have said no and cancelled, but we didn't...we ignored the flag and said there's no way they'll cancel again...well, they did. Completely cancelled the wedding and said 'you got off easy because we're not going after the balance of the party'...Hmm really, but you gave away my room on my date for a party at the same time and voided the contract? We RAN! We saw it as a blessing.
Do yourself a favor...look at Floral Terrace. From what I know it's a one wedding at a time place, they'll never do this to you. I was in your same shoes so I know how you feel...but you have time to find another place, vendors, etc. I did it last year and have no regrets. My wedding was amazing...and I was very honest with my hall so they took extra care of me.
Good luck!

I've really never heard of this happenning.
Actually, it happened to Sasha (SomethingBlu) prior to booking Jericho Terrace.
If I recall correctly, Sasha's prior hall wanted to sue for the amount due but luckily they had double booked the room on her date. On top of that they never notified her about the double booking.
Sasha - are you on
Flower, be thankful they told you. Take the money and run.![]()
Heehee...I'm reading this thread in bits...yes, thank you Katrina, it did happen to me. And I was NEVER notified. I found out when I called them to make a payment since my wedding was in 8 months.

It was a HUGE blessing though! Everything happens for a reason.

Re: My wedding date was just changed by Crest Hollow
I read the first two pages of posts and skimmed the last. But check the small fine print at the bottom of the contract. I noticed on mine it said that they reserve the right to change the room, date, etc with proper notice or something like that. I am sure it is there more of a safety against lawsuits in the event , like Flower's, that the hall does need to cancel. Sorry that happened to you.
