Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!

yes it does thanks

I just am so saddened by it ...I mean money is money right? It was so pretty woman only the only for the opposite reason...fh even wanted to go in and talk to them ....It was a nice thought but didn't make me feel any better for some reason....

You are completely right I needed some confidence, but the way they looked at me when I walked in and the way they were fawning ove rthe other girl her looks and hair etc. gave me an instant go stick your head in a hole feeling....

thank you again...you should go get some rest lol :)

sweet dreams

I have had the same thing happen to me in Macy's when I was going to buy makeup, 4 different sales ladies ignored me and they just stood behind the counter and talked. It upset me, but I went over to another counter where the sales people were much friendlier and they actually wanted to help me. When I told FH what happened he told me that it was their loss and not mine. I know that I can't let ignorant people get to me.

Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!

Thanks Patty .

I know it just hurt my feelings because it has happened twice in a row. Not to mention I was feeling self conscious to begin with.

You are both totally right, but still I believe online shopping is for me. I am just a bit too sensitive right now...maybe it is because the wedding is coming up and everything seems to be going wrong. I know I need to just lighten up a bit.

Maybe I could try sleeping lol...it has been days since I have slept more than two hours....

FH said the same thing, I would so fail them!!

I have had stuff happen to me like that all of my life and yes it still gets to me, but I have learned to let it go.

On another note if you want to do some online shopping I highly recommend Blue Rainbow Design. I got my favors (photo coasters), candles an monogrammed makeup bags for the girls in my bridal party from them. Their prices are reasonable and they ship the orders out very quickly, I ordred my favors on a Monday night and I had them delivered on Thursday.

If you ever need to vent you can always FM me and if you are looking for a shopping buddy I am always up for a trip to the mall.

Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!

Awww that is so nice! Thanks that really did make me feel better .

I think I am going to look into those fat scrunchers or smooshers that everyone raves about first though. I have had to deal with it all my life too...I just thought my wedding would be different....

Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!

OMG I'm sorry you guys had such horrible experiences! Thats exactly what I was fearing when it came time to go dress shopping. I was soooo nervous walking into the first store... but luckily it turned out great, and I never really had any problems..everyone was always super friendly. But maybe it helped that most of the time I was the only bride in there

And I don't think it has anything to do with how you dress, my sister and I were in sweats most of the time we went dress shopping hehe. You just need to forget about all those crappy sales people...just because we're big doesn't mean we can't be beautiful! You just need to go in there with a really great attitude and a huge smile on your face that says 'I'm marrying the man of my dreams'

I have a question...has anyone been treated umm differently because of their weight by sales people?

I am trying to figure out if I am being ignored and mistreated because I am heavy or if it is because I look very young or because I do not dress very well....maybe all of the above....

I don't know...but I am becoming very self conscious and depressed.

Everytime I go into a store there is a gorgeous bride being fawned over and I have to wait thirty minutes or more for someone to give me their time...they make eye contact and I walk over and they turn their backs or they say derogatory comments such as : 'Whose wedding is it.?' with a tone that insinuates it couldn't possibly be mine. I have my ring on hello!

Today I walked in and they turned their back on me. A nice old man I think worked there finally came over to me when he saw them ignoring me...two women with the very beautiful bride...I think she was a bride..she could have been there for the prom; I am not sure her mom was there....So anyway he comes over and I ask to see a catalogue to look at favors..since there are boxes blocking everything and he asks the woman and she is like the store IS the catalog. really nasty. He says but we could show her the catalog too. And she repeats even nastier she can (could) look around the store. I was walking out and the poor man was still talking about the catalog! I feel bad for not thanking him, but I was holding back tears at 31 years old for goodness sakes!

I think I am becoming eeyore. Maybe my tail was missing or something. All I know is I am internet shopping from now on.

I was just wondering if it is just me.....is it the heaviness (which will not come off by June)
or the youthful look or the fact that I wear jeans everywhere? Or maybe the fact that I am becoming depressed?

Sorry this is so long....

i been in that situation too. yes it does hurt your feelings too. but i have learned over the years that its not me its there insercurity. there the ones who have the problems. they most likelyhave some subconcoiuus isssues within themselves they have to look down at others to make themswlves feel worthy.

it stinks that peole judge on how others look. this world is all about looks.that why its so messed up.just hold your head up high and say ok your lose. just like in the movie pretty women they wouldn;t help her because the way she was dressed and look she went eslewhere then came back big mistake !! ust think of that everytime.

if you ever need to talk i am here for you. also i got my favors and some bm gifts from blue rainboe designs too great website. prices where great too.

remeber to smile and hold your head up high

Just wanted to say that I had somewhat of a similar experience. One place I went to, I got there right on time, and I was told 'x' will be right with you. I sat down with my sister and my friend and we waited NO JOKE 25 minutes. Finally I got up and said, 'who is 'x' she is supposed to be helping me? and the lady I was supposed to be working with was sitting there putting on makeup and talking on the phone!! The girl at the counter 'forgot' to tell her I was there, and 'x' said to me, 'I thought you just didn't show up!'
Talk about feeling invisible...we were sitting in the middle of the store!

Then I show her dress ideas I liked. She leads me over to the sample of a Paloma Blanca dress that I had in my pics (and loved) and said 'I'm not going to have you put on an 8...You won't be able to get the feel for it.... and then she starts pulling dresses that look NOTHING like the pics I showed her.

After all THAT, in the dressing room, after trying on a few dresses, I asked how much one cost, and she was like...'Oh that's right..we didn't even talk about prices' As if money should be no object, and that I should just be lucky to find a dress that fits me and looks decent.

That was really hurtful...and it is true that there were three salesgirls fawning over this tiny bride and even MY girl kept going over and commenting on her (although everytime she left my sister was able to sneak pics..so I guess there was somewhat of a silver lining after all!!)

I've come to the conclusion with some of these nasty sales people.
They must be very unhappy with themselves and their home life
to be So rude and take it out on others. Don't ever think that you are not Beautiful or not thin enough, Your FH loves you the way you are, just as all of our FHs, they see the Beauty on the outside as well as the Beauty within... Like in Pretty Woman it came back and kicked the Sales Lady in the Butt!!!! That is going to happen to all of the very rude sales people who would not helped us because of their ignorance....Don't let it upset you, your not alone in this. We are all here for you.....

Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!

I am a technician, so I wear carpenter pants, t-shirts and caontruction boots. Every lunch hour I would go to stores to get ideas. The sales ladies were the same to me. Like I wasn't going to spend money because I am a Plain Jane or something. My money is green just like everyone else's. The way I see it is, it is there loss. I want to give my money to people who want to help me. I also am a letter writer! So, if I were you, I would call, write, email a letter stting your experience. An stick to the facts, like they ignored you, but not why. Also you could mention it on a post here and tell the girls the name of the staore and your experience. I know if I knew the name of the store I would be wary about going there! Keep your head up girl!

I do feel some of these sales people judge by your appearence. The best thing to do is spend your money somewhere else. Why give it to them. I also have written letters and called about poor customer service. It doesn't always make a difference but it makes me feel better.

I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I had a bad experince with Davids bridal. The woman actually asked me once i had a dress on If I planned on losing weight before the wedding or if I was going to look like I do now. I don't know if it was an insult but it greatly upset me. I took the dress of and left. Went to a mom and pop dress shop were I expected the same thing. And they were the sweetest. She took her time showing me things that would be complimentary.
I was so upset though. That was supposed to be a fun experience and they took that away !!!!!!!!
