Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!
Good morning ladies! I need some help...I've been desperately trying to diet lately, but it seems like I always blow it.Yesterday there was some serious drama here at work (It's a long story, but basically a coworker 'friend' of mine stole some expensive equipment that's under my care & could have gotten me into A LOT of trouble for it. Luckily another coworker found the equip. hidden in the guy's work area waiting to be moved out of the building). In any event to deal with my sadness & the sense of betrayal, I came home and ate 2 Jenny Craig choc. brownies and HALF A CONTAINER of chocolate cake icing. It would have been a whole container if I hadn't of used it for the F-Day cake I made over the weekend
I'm SO addicted to food that it's sad...afterwards I cried because I'll prob gain 5 pounds & not fit into my dress or something. For those of you who are emotional eaters too, how are you handling your pre-wedding stress without gaining 50 lbs??? It's getting harder & harder for me to do
Thanks for letting me vent...

i totaly know about stressful emotional eating. i been trying not to keep junk food in my house. i only have those 100 carloies packs. its very hard because i can binge on those as well. sometimes you just have to do it get it out of your system and move on. for every step backwards always remeber your going to move forward a whle bunch. maybe try keeping a picture of a wedding dress( not yours a diffrent one so no-one sees yours) on the frige with your picture of your face on it so it will remind you of your beautiful dress you will be wearing. if you need to vent some more you can fm me. i am here for you! just remember no matter what your going to look beautiful on your wedding day and no-one is going t take that spot light away from you.

I am an emotional eater myself. I have had a few things happen over the past couple of weeks that have made me want to run and dive into a Cold Stone Creamery..'Gotta Have It Size' ice cream, but I have contained myself for the most part. Instead I have the 100 Calorie packs in the house and Klondike makes 100 calorie ice cream bars that are really yummy. I just keep thinking about me in my dress and the fact that I have my first fitting on July 26. Don't worry if you slip back a little bit, everyone has their bad days. You have to allow yourself one cheat day and you can consider yesterday as your cheat day. Just remember that you are going to a gorgeous bride.

I have found the best way to control a binge or emotional eating to to plan my day. In the morning or the night beofre I plan and write down what my meals will be for the day for some reason if it not on my plan it's easier for me to stay away. On days when I don't plan the day, for lack of time or whatever reason, I am much more likely to fall under the pressures of the day and eat anything and everything.
Other things I do when I want to have an emotional binge is take myself out of the situation. Go for a walk, or go out and weed the garden, take my anger or emotion out constructively rather than destrcutivly. I now it's hard, especially in the moment. But I talk to myself in those moments, and tell myself why I deserve to treat myself well! I'm a great one for telling myself I deserve a treat especially on my workout days ( 'i burned 500 calories, I deserve that fudge sundae!!!'), but I am getting better at telling myself that instead of deserving a treat - I deserve to treat myself well.
For me, this battle with weight is much more a battle with my head than with my stomach. Remember you derserve to treat yourself well! Not just to look good on your wedding day, but to feel fit and healthy everyday!
You can do it!!!
..one more thing - don't beat yourself up over something you have eaten, acknowledge it an more on. You can start over this very minute, you don't have to wait until tomorrow or Monday to get back on track

I like the dress idea...I'm going to try to do it in Photoshop now while I'm on lunch...I might just use a 700 lb bride instead though. Something tells me that might motivate me just a bit more lol Thanks again!

Thank you so much too...it helps a lot just knowing that I'm not the only one that struggles with this! My friend who's also engaged doesn't eat at all when she's stressed, so she doesn't know where I'm coming from lol Good luck to you too - I hope that all the craziness that you've had the past few weeks passes REALLY soon!!

And thank you too!!!I like the idea of taking myself out of the sit. & doing something else instead to work it off. Just going for a walk sounds like a good idea, so I'm going to make that my new plan. Stress = a walk...NOT eating.
Thank you ALL so much...I'm dealing with it now & I'm moving on! Yesterday was shot, but today's a new day & I'm starting all over with a new game plan! Thank you all for listening & for your help!!![]()

Re: The Official Big girls thread!!!
Hey ladies! I'm another pluz sized newbie...Question- I really don't want to dress shop yet because, as we all want, I would like to lose some weight first. However, I don't want to wait too long for fear of not having enough time to order the dress. Have you all had any experience with getting a dress and then having to have it significantly altered? For example, if I were to lose 50lbs, will the dress be able to be altered without losing it's design? I haven't got a clue. Thanks!

Congratulations on your engagement!!!!!
I think the alterations vary by dress, i was told mine could be taken in up to 2 sizes, I heard other brides say 1 and some say 3. I think it really depends on the complexity of the gown. You still have a good amount of time, but it would probably be a good idea to try on some gowns and get the opinions of the seamstress as far as alterations and how long it will take to order the particular dress you want. If it will only take a few months, then I'd hold off and go back closer to the wedding date

Good Luck and Congratulations again!

Welcome!!!!
It doesn't hurt to start to look for your dress, this way you can see what is out there in your size. You can always ask the salesperson in the store about alterations and see what they say.
