Re: WOW! snob alert on the knot- LOL

Um. Your wedding is about a MARRIAGE, not the 'money you make'! And your goal in having the wedding was to save enough money for a condo?

Um. EW EW

Seriously! What is WRONG with people! We had a friend of DH's come to our wedding and he didn't give a gift, but he flew up from VA, stayed in the hotel and came to the wedding. I still sent him a thank you because his actually PRESENCE at the wedding was more important than a PRESENT!

Ug.

yea but we all have to admit when we get 30 bucks from 2 poeple, we would be pissed. if they really are pooor or something its different but....i still wouldnt post that.

I respectfully disagree. The only thing that would piss me off with regard to what people give or don't give would be the ones that live locally and don't even acknowledge the day in writing. Not one person I know is so poor that they can't afford $2.50 for a card that says congrats.

My wedding day is not about people covering their plate or us making money, or breaking even - it is about people we love sharing our day, and while their presence all by itself should be enough, I just know that I would be upset if someone drove 15 minutes to get to the wedding and didn't even bring a card. (as opposed to someone that got on a plane for 6 hours).

Re: WOW! snob alert on the knot- LOL

I can't believe that poster- especially to call her guests low class. Sure, we'd all like to get really big, expensive gifts, but it's not about that- it's allabout having your family and friends share your day with you.

And if she was so worried about not affording a condo, maybe they should have spent less on the wedding. Really, would and extra couple hundred bucks make any difference in a down payment anyway? Come on!!

We had several guests who have very little money. One guest gave us $20. And for us, it wasn't about the money. We were just happy that they could join us.

Expecting to 'make money' at your wedding is silly. I guess this bride is just going to have to 'scrimp' to afford her condo.

I think someone needs to be hit repedetly with a large dose of reality! How much more a b**ch can you get??

Re: WOW! snob alert on the knot- LOL

Granted that isnt the point of the whole day, but I wouldnt give $30 as gift for me and Fh at a wedding.

I have a side of my family who will put $10 or maybe $20 on a good day in a card for 6 ppl. To me its ghetto... but I wont get pissed about it. I would never do that but not everyone is feels the same.. Plus I know that when they come they will dance and I will have a good time with them.

why wouldnt you be invited. I invite that side of my family all the time and they arent poor. They just dont give a gift. I have a poor ppl in my family and I dont expect them or would want them to give a gift. My mother was always this person when we were growing up.

Trust me girl... I know first hand what its like to be 'PO'. We called ourselves the 'Poor Ricans'

I she was so concerned about guests not replenishing her condo fund, then maybe she should have opted for a smaller, less extravagant wedding

It depends on the guest. In my case, one of the guests was disabled and on a fixed income. I certainly wouldn't have expected a huge monetary gift from her (in fact, I expected nothing). She was so thrilled to be invited and be part of our wedding, that was more important than how much cash she stuck in an envelope.

True... I totally agree with you. It depends on circumstances... like i said above we were always the poor one, we couldnt afford monetary gifts. But there are times when people are cheap or so forth. Every circumstances are different. I just want everyone to have fun at my wedding. When I said the above, I meant that knowing my financial situation, I wouldnt give $30.

Re: WOW! snob alert on the knot- LOL

My Uncle/Godfather is SO poor... I KNOW we're not getting a gift from him. Does that mean I shouldn't invite him? NO WAY!! I can't IMAGINE my wedding without him! Same with a few relatives on my FH's side! They're absolutely all invited!

What are some of the responses on theknot? (I never go on there... guess posts like that are why!)

I DO have to say the only time you get PI$$ED is when you're Rich Uncle Murdoch and could buy the world gives 30 bucks... THAT'S when I'd get PISSED!
