PS---I don't know how any bride on LI, or Jersey for that matter, could possibly 'make' money on their wedding. My hall was one of the less expensive places on LI and I had some very generous gifts and I still didn't make my money back. I think it just might be impossible.

I DO have to say the only time you get PI$$ED is when you're Rich Uncle Murdoch and could buy the world gives 30 bucks... THAT'S when I'd get PISSED!

That happened to my mom. Her sister is on the wealthy side and gave her like $50 and brought 5 people with her (only her and my uncle were invited).

My grandmother is not coming to my wedding because she says she doesn't have the money for a gift. That hurt me a lot more than if she came and didn't give a gift. I am just looking forward to the people that are coming to show their love and support for me and my fh.

I want to slap this girl!!
I plan to invite people b/c they mean something to me and my fiance. not based on their potential gifts!!!
I have a few friends who are starting out, newly married, just bought houses and stuff, and i know they wont be able to afford a large gift.....but i dont care.
It means more to me that those I love are there over what they are going to give me.
SOme people are just greedy and need to get over themselves!

THAT IS SO WRONG!!!!

she keeps asking what is wrong with people, what is wrong with her?!?!?!? If I was at her wedding I would be on the phone right now putting a big old stop payment on my check!

Umm she asks what's wrong with people??? Maybe the fact that she's a major major biatch caused something in those people to remove money out of their envelopes!!!!

We walked into our wedding expecting nothing from anyone. Sure we knew certain people would give us something, and there were people we knew who couldn't really afford anything. It didn't matter to us either way. My own MOH didn't even give me a freaking card but it's not going to stop me from sending her a TY card!!!

Now if they wanted to make money for a condo, maybe they should have just gotten married at City Hall and then threw a catered party afterwards!!!

I completely agree...it's Nice to get the big envelope (if your meadow soprano) but the wedding day is for celebration of two family's coming together threw the bride and groom...enjoy The moment b/c it's goes fast!
