Questions for East Wind Brides...
Hi you guys! I just went to East Wind and loved it! The person who gave us the tour was a bit sick (nice lady though) and I asked all my questions but I'm wondering why she specifically showed me The Veranda room. I saw the cottage and Estate and those were nice too. I guess my question is how did you guys choose which venue at East Wind you wanted? Also in the all inclusive are the bouquets included? I forgot to ask!
Also has anyone been married at the Inn? I thought the staircase cocktail hour is so pretty but it is a bit segregated. Just wanted to know all the details. Also, I know that some people book 'blocks' for multiple people to stay there? Do you have to make a deposit or anything? For the date I'm looking for it looks like alot are already booked but I know there are some hotels in the area.
Sorry for all the questions!

Questions for East Wind Brides... - Long Island Weddings
Hey! I'm an EW bride for May 18th. I'm in the Estate. My fiance really had his heart set on having a separate building from the Inn, so that left us with the Estate and the Cottage. The Cottage wouldn't fit our guest count, so we were left with the Estate. I saw the Veranda and really liked it, but it would have been to small as well. How many guests are you inviting? She may have been able to work with the minimums in that room more than the Estate, which I think they're pretty strict on.I don't know much about the inclusive, I'd just shoot her an email or call and ask.
I have a wedding block there and at the Hilton Garden Inn in Riverhead. They had me leave a 10% deposit for the room block which I get back as long as all of my rooms get reserved. There are a lot of local hotels so I'm sure you can set something up in the local area and set up shuttles.
Any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for all the info. Our guest list is about 120 to 130. How much does the Estate hold?

Hi! I'm booked at the cottage. The all inclusive doesn't include bouquets, only centerpieces as far as flowers are concerned.I did a block at the east wind and the hilton in riverhead. I had to leave a deposit at the east wind but not at the Hilton.
Feel free to FM me if you have any questions about the cottage. I will say, it's prob too small for 120-130. They say it can hold about 120 but that'd be really tight.

Oh ok thanks Alimm. I saw the cottage and though I had my heart set on it, the area was too small.BTW have any of you gone to the expo there or have tried the food? I wanted to take my mother and fiance along. How does the taste testing work?

I've been to three showcases, lol. They serve a lot of food at each one, that's the only time I've tried the food. But I love it, it's so delish. They have one about every month, but I'm sure if you call/email the sales rep you were dealing with they could let you know. Everyone there is so wonderful to deal with.

Re: Questions for East Wind Brides...
Hey! I'm an EW Bride getting married in the Veranda room. I'm guessing she most likely showed you that room because of your guest list. My guest list is around 125-150, and when I first visited EW they showed me the Estate but told me they are strict with the guest min for that room, especially for a Sat. night which is what I wanted. They told me the lowest they could go was 175 min. The Inn was really nice, I had a hard time deciding between the Inn and the Veranda. What made my decision was that I didn't like that the cocktail hour room is the same 'space' as the ballroom, just located on the opposite side (they split the grand ballroom in half, and one side is for reception and one side is for cocktail). I wanted my reception to have its own defined look. It really is very nice though, and that might not be as big of a deal to others. They were also stricter with the minimum for the Inn, and wanted me to guarantee 150- for Veranda I only have to guarantee 125.For me, I can see what you mean about the segregation of the staircase but I loved the idea of the staircase cocktail hour because its somewhat different than the standard room with outside patio - loved the outside balcony instead. My weddings in the middle of the summer, and in my experience with summer weddings, most end up wanting to stay inside for cocktail hour anyway because its just SO HOT! EW told me the outside balcony will remain open during the reception as well which sold me on the Veranda because I love the idea of outdoor space during the reception.
Anyway, Good luck with your decision! and BTW, I went to a showcase at EW in Nov and the food was awesome

OH wow thanks for the info MrsC2Bee! BTW when you say the Inn do you mean the big ballroom downstairs? The place is just huge and I got confused from all the rooms!I'm very excited about this place and it probably will be my pick even though my family is urging me to find a place closer to the city since alot of people are coming from outside of Long Island.
I also really loved the balcony in the Veranda and the bar! It was just beautiful! And the colors in that room. So neutral and simple...just the way I like it!

You're very welcome!! And yeah the Inn is the big ballroom downstairs. They usually split it into the Northhampton and Southamptom ballrooms for weddings unless you're having like 800+ guests haha
My family was actually hesitant about me booking EW for same reason as we have a lot of family in queens and nassau, but at the end of the day I loved the venue and we're getting married on site so they will just have to drive a little further! that's what the hotel block is for so at least they can just go back to their room and it's right in the same building as the wedding

Re: Questions for East Wind Brides...
Also-- did the person who showed you around EW show you the master suite near the Veranda room? it's gorgeous! i'm planning on upgrading to that room for the wedding and in the morning its more than enough room for all the girls to get ready together, and also using it as an extra bridal suite during the day because the only complaint I have about the Veranda room is how tiny the actual bridal suite is.

My minimum for a Sunday night was 150, but we're inviting a little over 200 because we both have huge families. I think the max in the Estate is 300, but I'm not too sure about that.

I thought it was actually pretty big or did they show me the wrong one? I saw the one on the main floor with the cool big chairs. Where is it? I also did not see the Veranda suite! What's in it?

I'm pretty sure the one on the main floor is the bridal suite for the Inn. I LOVED that room too, the big ornate chairs were awesome. The Veranda bridal suite is much smaller than that room and it's upstairs. The hotel room suite is also upstairs by the Veranda and it's gorgeous- has a bedroom, huge bathroom and living room area where you can get ready the morning of the wedding

Omg really? I remember seeing a really small room upstairs! The woman who showed me around told me that the bridal suite downstairs would be the one I would be getting ready in. Maybe I can convince to let me use that one. When I go back for the tasting I have to further investigate all this. Thanks MrsC2Bee!

I just got married at the Estate and it was AMAZING! They were willing to let us have a 125 minimum because we had our wedding in the winter, we wanted to negotiate some things into our contract and wiggle room the price so we ended up bumping our minimum to 140 and had 155 people attend. Every single thing about our wedding was wonderful and people have not stopped contacting me about how great the food and drinks were. You cannot go wrong with East Wind!!

Omg all this talk about the Estate has got me excited! I loved the fireplace there. I'm wondering if they would let us have the Estate since we are inviting about 130. Question though...where is the cocktail hour in the Estate? And where is the ceremony? Is it by the Inn? Do you guys have to walk from there to the Estate? I know...so many questions. Sorry. :(
