Re: Thank you cards to Non-gift givers..............

We expect someone who doesn't understand 'newlywed board' and who doesn't read 'The Purpose of this Board' to understand that it's RUDE to wrtite 'monetary gifts preferred' and then give out a thank you card AT the wedding reception?

GMTA! I was JUST going to say that!

ETA: if I attended someone's wedding and was given a TY card AT the wedding I would be so offended by that

and btw, people will surprise you, no matter what you think! you will get wrapped gifts and you will get monetary gifts. and you will probably have some guests who give you nothing at all. just like most everyone else who gets married.

DH said that he refuses to send a thank you to people who couldn't even go out to buy a card; I'm on the fence.

I actually don't want to send thank yous to people who were flat out rude to my mom during the wedding @ cocktail hour or who were overheard talking badly about me and my family.

OMG! that's terrible! I'm sorry people were so mean

My feeling about thanking people who didn't give us a card even is this... the only one's who didn't give us anything were from OOT. so they spent $$$ just to be there for us and to help us celebrate. I wanted to thank them for that.

HOWEVER, I am still pretty PO'd that people would have the nerve to not even buy a $2 card to wish us well

I agree with you for our OOT guests, especially our GMs who came from LA - they spent so much just to be with us. I guess I'm on the fence about the non-card givers because of the audacity of some gift giving guests who were so mean. I have time to figure it out at least!

sorry if I am nosy...

but why were they being mean?

Re: Thank you cards to Non-gift givers..............

I'll share a little bit of it, I don't mind - I don't think you're being nosy, since I'm the one who put it out there.

Someone went up to my mother and said, 'What kind of mother doesn't cry at her own daughter's wedding? Don't you care?'

My aunt heard some guests asking what kind of bride allows herself to be seen before the wedding - which amuses me because those were the very people who tried to come into the room where I was finishing pictures and they refused to escorted into the right room.

There are other big things, but it you get the idea, right?

What a disgusting comment to make. I can't believe that person had the audacity to say it to your mom's face. What ever happened to having tact?

It kills me that someone would talk to her like that, especially someone who never met her and has no idea how emotional she was helping me get ready! I'm glad I didn't know this stuff till afterward.

btw - thanks for listening, Dina. You've always been super nice to me.

you're very welcome!!

this IS the place to vent! and God knows, I have done plenty of it myself!
