aw, thanks deanna. i just thought maybe that was the way they did things. i met with 2 other officiants & was disappointed. so when we thought to call rev nick, and the mrs. gave us that bit about 'we don't need to meet' we just thought that it was ok.
she asked me if we wanted a religious or civil & when i told her we aren't religious people, that's when she said they would conduct a standard civil ceremony & that we didn't need to meet to discuss something so standard. she did make me feel weird over the phone, like i was bothering her (it was after 8pm) but we liked the price & the fact that he's been there before & well, we just said ok.
i'm going to call them after the new year is over & talk to them some more & i'll let you know what happens.
i can't wait to see more of your pics! you look amazing in the ones you have posted!!!
yea i would def try and call them again after the new years and just talk to her.. you can even bring up my name if you wanted.. we also had a standard ceremony and still met with him.. i felt more comfortable that way!!
so yea let me know how you make out!!
Dewdrop, I would definitely insist on a meeting (in a nice way). I would NEVER allow someone to marry me without meeting with him/her. It's such an important part of the day, to me -- what if you just don't like him? I think it's pretty rude that they said 'they don't do auditions.' I mean, you are giving them $350 - without knowing anything about him??? I considered calling him but honestly, I'm seriously considering NOT calling him now. That's very strange. Hope it works out for you!!!
tanks boothin. yeah, i know. we didn't want to fight it so we just went with it. it was a strange phone conversation and then that idiotic email asking us if we wanted to book? but we thought, who ever married us, it'll be awesome.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Hey girls -Just wanted to let you know that I met with Eric (i think that is his name?) at the Fox Hollow last night when my mom and I went to drop off a check. He is the operations manager. I asked him about the cake problem - said that I was on a few LI wedding websites and that a few recent brides had said that while everythung else was perfect, their cakes were not correct, and I asked how they were solving this issue. He said he's seen the comments online too, and that they just found out that the cake they call #4 was not the same as what Erga was making when the FH told them a bride wanted #4 - theirs was different. I find this a little fishy -- as far as I can remember, it was simply the decorations that weren't right, not the actual cake style or filling. Deanna and Shorty, can you clarify??
Just thought you gals would want to know.
Have a good night!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Hey ladies.Reverand Nic is Nick montanino and he has a website. His wife told me they don't really need to meet the brides too (i did a standard civil ceremony). They did tell me that they did meet with brides one evening a week. I didn't feel the need to meet with them (mostly because I didn't want to drive out to their place to meet them- (lazy bride)) They called me a number of times as the wedding got closer and I went over the details with Rev. Nick. I ended up adding some things, and he was very helpful in suggesting a lot of things and getting me the information. He did an AWESOME job with my ceremony. He showed up early for the ceremony and went over a few things. I got a number of compliments on him and the ceremony.
As for the cake. mine came out perfect...but I also had Richard (the house florist) as my florist so I think he made sure that the decorations were right. But with other brides complaining I would make sure that all the final details were set, and make sure that you let Jenn know that you've heard about the cake problems.
As a side note, this might not help, but remember the only people who will know it is wrong is you and maybe FH, so I wouldn't let it stress you too much. God knows there is so much else to stress about your wedding.
Good luck ladies!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
I was thinking of using Rev Nick since I have heard so many good things about him. I would like to meet with him though. I wonder why they were being rude to some people. About how far in advance should you book the officiant? Thanks!

i dunno if i would say rude, necessarily. different definitely. i may have come off sounding like i was shopping a lot for an officiant maybe? i'd already seen 2 i didn't care for when i called. the email thing was the only thing that kinda pissed me off.

hi ladies...Jen-- my cake was wrong because of all the decorations... the filling, and the style of cake was perfect.
dewdrop-- i loveeeed Rev Nick.. he was soooo awesome and i recomend him! still in my opinion though, i would not have him do my wedding if i did not meet with him... i wanted to make sure we liked him.

We are in the briar fox and we're using votives and lanterns and they said it was no problem...
if you look at the pics on their website they have candles on the tables there too...
don't know if that helps or not

Yeah, I was thinking tall votives, so that helps a lot, thanks so much!
The room is so dark I just want people to be able to see their dinner - but it works out since I love candlelight and don't want to spend a ton on flowers.

Yea, I want it to be basically all candle light in the room, i love that romantic feel... plus i love saving the money on flowers.

Have a good night!
Hiii - sorry so late -
no, my entire cake was wrong.
filling, decorations, even the topping.
For the record, I requested cake #8 - just square, 3 tier, no dots.
It was supposed to be white cake, filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, topped with FONDANT, because that's my favorite thing in the world.... it was white cake, cream, and gushy gooey strawberry preserves topped with marzipan. WHO DOES THAT? It was so gross
... tasted like pure sugar. I walked into my reception room between CH and Recep for a 'final check', and everything was fantastic....til I saw the cake. I actually said (with a smile!), 'Wow, everything looks so beautful - except who's cake is that? because surely MY cake doesn't have neon blue dots all over it...'
Maitre'D: 'Uhh, what's wrong?'
Me: Seriously?
My DOC: What can we do about maybe not displaying the cake? Only taking it out when it's time to cut it?
Maitre'D: Um, OK, we'll handle this.
The next time i saw the cake, the neon blue dots had been literally WIPED OFF and they wrapped navy ribbon around each layer. The more photos I see, the more I roll my eyes at the cake. You can actually SEE the marks from where they wiped off the blue dots in the photos - it looked like tie-dyed icing!
Oh well. Nothing I can do about it now.
But I certainly wouldn't recommend using their bakery.
Good thing I was upgraded to a Grand Vienesse! I don't know when that happened...it's not on my initial contract (I was only supposed to get the mini). Sooo either Frank did it at my final meeting, or the Maitre'D requested it after the cake botching situation. Either way, that was GOOD!
