Re: Greek Brides Thread

I've seen people have violinist or harp, or just prerecorded classical (not that i've been to a bazillion greek weddings) but the 5 or 6 I can think of there was no organ.

Re: Greek Brides Thread

Hi girls....I'm new to this, although I have been engaged since November!! I am Greek, my FH is Irish, we haven't set a date yet, but we're definitely getting married in the Greek church.
I have been to a million greek weddings and as far as I can recall, all of them had the organist playing. When the bridesmaids were walking down the aisle, they usually played something classical...like Four Seasons or very similar to that and then when cued, they would start the brides march. The classical musical actually sounds pretty cool on the organ....very traditional.

Have any of you girls know anything about George - A Greek DJ with Dash of Class? He's available for my e-party date (Nick isn't ). I have not yet spoken with him, but just looking for any feedback. Thanks!

Re: Greek Brides Thread

My FH is Greek and I am Catholic. I am in the process of converting. I too was upset about not being able to do vows so I spoke ot my priest and he said we could! My FH and I are going to write vows to each other. The priest said we can do them early in the ceremony or at the end.

Also, he is doing the ceremony in English with just the hymms in Greek.

I thought it would be helpful for some of you who are interested in doing vows....talk to the priest!

There is also Rizos in FLushing on Northern Blvd. In my opinion though - I think Thessaloniki has the nicest crosses.

Congrats on becoming a nouna!

thank you so much, honeybee;

you sound knowledgeable about this, so what about the rings? i always though it was the left hand, but i keep reading about the right hand; how much greek is spoken? is there a way that the greek priest could do the ceremony and then my pastor (like, before we walk down the aisle out of the church) could do a blessing/exchange of vows? in the greek church? is that not allowed? i'm so confused; thank ya'll for all your help with a clueless nongreek bride!!!

With respect to the rings - When you get marreid in the church - the priest places the rings on your right hand. After that though i think the church pretty much lets you do what you want - meaning on the right or left. A majority of people where it on their left (even in Greece) although there is a new 'trend' of going back to tradition and wearing it on your right hand. DH and I chose to wear it on your right. We both like and appreciate that tradition.
