Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

My dress is in, but they told me not to come for my first fitting until September. I guess this is a bit late?! Maybe I should call them and change it?!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Do you feel there's alot to be done to your dress? Besides the bustle I mean?

I got my dress from Netbride so I am searching for a seamstress. I wasn't even going to start looking until the end of July, with plans towards first fitting at the end of August or beginning September. I don't think there's much to be done overall... so I hope that's enough time.

Let me know how it goes!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Hi ladies,

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.

My Update:
Ordered the RB pillow and a basket (even though we aren't having a FG, it was a set).
Finalized the invitation wording and chose the font.
Set up florist and limo appts on 7/10 and 7/11.
Ordered all the pieces of my favors (boxes, candles, bags, and ribbon) except the candy corn.

Still have to:
Buy ALL my accessories (all I have is a dress that I can't seem to get a swatch for!!!)
MAKE FH ASK HIS GROOMSMEN - I can't believe he still hasn't asked them - then get tuxedos.
Finalize guest list.
Order the invites.
Contact the organist.
Pick the songs for the dances.
Convince FMIL that Beige is NOT a good color on her.
Get OOT bag ideas.
Pick gifts for parents, readers, BM and GMs.
Pick readings and readers.
Figure out programs.
Schedule a hair trial.
Pick linens, taste food and make sure the hall has their act together (there have been some negative posts about the Thatched Cottage recently).
And probably 170 other things.

How are you girls holding up?

About the same minus the Beige dress thing....my FMIL went for blue, my favorite color!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I'm about the same, too, except my FMIL got a nice dress. It's MY mom I'm worried about! Plus we still have to get FH's ring and decide what he and the guys are wearing.

I can't seem to get a swatch of my dress, either. It's kinda freaking me out.

ETA: When are you guys going to mail your invitations? I'm confused about how long before the wedding day you send them. You're supposed to have the RSVP date four weeks before the wedding, right? So do you mail the invites eight weeks before the wedding?

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I just ordered my invitations last week and made the RSVP date 10/1/04. I guess I will be mailing them out in the beginning of September.

We're mailing out 8 weeks before and hoping we get any "no" responses right away so we can send to the "B" list at the 6 week mark. Our guest list is out of control and I can't seem to get FH or FILs to narrow theirs down!!

The swatch thing is making me a little batty - they expect me to come into the August fitting with all my accessories already but I can't match them to anything!!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

In case you are looking for favors/gift bags/decorations, LTD Commodities just came out with their Harvest issue and it has some nice CHEAP ideas for Halloween and fall.

It's not a catalog a lot of people get, because you have to be a business to get it. But they don't check on the business - I've been "Lorsin Inc." for a while now!!

I had my heart set on a May or June 2005 wedding, but seems i'm late in getting a hall. You've got me into the October ren faire idea. Does anyone go to the Ren Faire in Tuxedo? What great ideas you brides have! Does October book fast?

Are you guys doing masquerades where guests dress in costume? Ours won't be, we're doing a "masked ball" and giving out masks as the favors.

But my FMIL is worried that people will show up dressed like Frankenstein or something. Which personally I think would be hilarious.

I am doing the same thing! We are also going to have tons of pumpkins, leaves, etc. as decorations.

Yay! Another masquerade girl!

Do you have the masks/favors already? I haven't ordered them yet and I'm starting to freak out. I need to force FH to sit down and think about masks since the whole thing was his idea anyway!

We haven't ordered them yet. I just got the Halloween Oriental Trading Catalog which has some great stuff in it. Where are you getting your masks from?

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Also, on the October question, I found that it doesn't book that fast. We didn't start looking for halls until February or March of this year and there were still plenty of October dates left at lots of different halls.

YES!! I need to get my butt in gear!!

FH FINALLY asked his wedding party and FMIL decided on a beautiful choclate brown dress with beige accents instead of a fully beige dress.

But we still need to finalize the invites and wording and order them. Still have to do flowers, limos, make-up, hair, veil, shoes, purse, gifts, and lots of other things!!!

Lunch hours and free evenings are a thing of the past!!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Question for my fellow halloween themed brides:

We thought it would be fun to do Monster Names instead of table numbers for the reception tables.

Problem is, I need 15 table names. So far, I can only come up with these:

Frankenstein Table - FH's family
Bride of Frankenstein Table - My family
Dracula Table
Wolfman Table
Mummy Table

Any other ideas???

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I love the Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein idea! So cute!

How about Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde (either as one table or two)?

Hmmm...there have to be other monsters. Maybe a bunch of different vampires, like Lestat and Nosferatu, not only Dracula? Or there are monsters like Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster. Hunchback of Notre Dame? Creature from the Black Lagoon?

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Monster names??? oooooooo
Could I maybe "borrow" that??? What a great idea!!!

I've thought of:

The Black Lagoon (ie: creature from)
Alien
Cthulu
Tell Tale Heart (not a monster ...but a good table name)
Jack The Ripper
Loch Ness
Cerebus
Gorgon (or Medusa)
King Kong
Godzilla
