Got so much done this weekend - wanted to share!!

Approved the final invitation wording and placed the final order.
Finalized the guest list and submitted the addresses to the printer.
Booked florist and determined all flower needs.
Booked limos for us and the wedding party and transport for guests.
Picked out wedding bands and put full deposit down.
Chose our readers.
Met with the church organist and pastor.

I'm so relieved, I feel like I can actually breathe again!!

I ordered invitations this weekend, too.

I also got FH to start getting serious about planning the honeymoon.

yup shower was sunday - it was pretty nice - not alot of people the bp kept it to just close family and friends - which i think is fantastic since i dont do well in crowds -to tell the truth i was dreading a huge shower but i am so glad they thought about it ahead and didnt have like 80 people there ( got to love the bridesmaids they did good)
the food at polish hall in riverhead is fantastic - mpi is lucky i didnt go there for a tasting or we might have had our wedding there -

i'll send pictures when someone sends me some - hopefully i will get quite a few from people who were there

I'm pretty sure mine's coming up because things are starting to go off the registry. It's hard not to snoop around to see when it is!! I'm not good with secrets about me - I always want to know!!

Your shower sounds great! Nag your friends for pictures to show us!

Mine is going to be August 8. They can't really surprise me, since I have to fly in from LA for it.

It's much less fun to plan a wedding from so far away. Also, my FMIL is being weird about the shower. She says it's not something Jews do (FH is Jewish), so now I kinda feel like she thinks I'm spoiled or something for wanting one. I swear I've known Jewish girls who had showers...maybe she's just wrong!

I think she's wrong.

I've been to several Jewish girls' showers - I've never heard of it being 'off-limits' to Jewish brides.

Why should you be deprived of a shower!?!

I've been to plenty of Jewish showers! I do know that they are superstitious sometimes and don't think you should have baby things in the house before you have the baby - so maybe she thinks you shouldn't have stuff in your house before you get married. I'll ask around for you!

Thanks, girls. Everyone I talk to seems to think bridal showers for Jewish women are perfectly normal (though I know about the baby shower thing--I'll cross that bridge when I come to it!)

I don't think FMIL will behave badly at my shower or anything. It just bothers me that whenever she disagrees with/is unfamiliar with any wedding thing I want to do, she immediately goes to the religious difference as an excuse.

Oh, well. I'm just going to focus on the fact that WE'RE BOOKING OUR HONEYMOON THIS WEEKEND!! Yay!! I thought it would never happen! We're going to the Cook Islands and then New Zealand. Where are you guys all going?

One of my closest friends is Jewish, she had 3 showers!!! I was told that they really don't believe in baby showers. Enjoy YOUR shower!!!!

ETS: We're taking our honeymoon in February or March since FH will be in the middle of the Nassau Police Academy

But since we're waiting a few months we're planning to do a 'cost is not an issue' honeymoon!! We're considering Bora Bora.

Wow - New Zealand and Bora Bora!! You girls are going to have FABULOUS Honeymoons!!

We're doing Hawaii - 3 days in Waikiki to decompress and a 10 day cruise around the islands!

I'm soooooo looking forward to getting away for that time!!

we are starting with a week in a seculed cabin in the woods - then we are hitting 11 days to the islands on norwegian cruiselines
should be great fun 0- then we are ending with a few days in the city
all in all about 3 weeks
