I NEED YOU ALL....
This is so unreal..i want someone to pinch me and wake me up out of this nightmare. We had a blackout last night and my son asked if he could sleep over his friends house who lives next door. I said it was fine, because we were going to go to the pool today. So...apparently they snuck out to go to his girlfriends house who invited them over to watch a movie. They at first didn't want to go because her dad was home. He's a correction officer. But..they went anyway and stood in the basement. Her father caught her and my sons friend. My son was in the bathroom when he came down. He started screaming at her and his friend and then proceeded to hit her. My son says he freaked out and stood in the bathroom. His friend left the house and came back home. The whole time my son is in the bathroom in the basement, he says there was a lot of fighting going on upstairs and then a loud thud. At 7:30am I was woken up by detectives notifying me my son was missing. I told them how could that be when he was next door?? They told me about an incident that had occured and asked me to check for him..which I did and he wasn't here. They went back to the house and found him at still in the bathroom and he was crying. His girlfriend (15 yrs old) apparently got hold of her fathers gun and shot herself in the chest (which was the loud thud) and died this morning. I am in shock..and can't even begin to tell you all how I am feeling. I knew, and cared for this girl. I just spoke w/her and her father last night..because he came to lend us flashlights since we had a blackout. And now I hear this...I don't even know what to do..say. My son is not saying much...but I know he is very very sad. I hate that this happened..and although I know they are teenagers..I wish they would have never gone over there, because maybe this wouldn't have happened. Apparently there were alot of other problems their family had (which she never let on), and I guess it lead her to do this. Her father was VERY over protective of her..which is understandable...but now he is being questioned because of her getting a hold of this gun. This is a tragedy...one that I don't know how I or her family are going to be able to overcome. I need your prayers ladies...please.

Re: I NEED YOU ALL....
You need to get your Son to talk. You need to know what he is thinking and get him some help. That is a lot of stress for a 15 year old to handle.

Re: I NEED YOU ALL....
I agree that you need to have your son talk to someone, I am full of anxiety just reading your story....I can not imagine what he must feel. This is beyond belief and one of my most horrible fears (my FH is a cop). People think Im crazy because I always think the worst but, this stuff really does happen. All I can think is OMG!! How horrible!

OMG That is absolutely horrible! For the situation to be so bad that she felt this was her only way out.
I feel terrible for your son as well. How awful that he had to hear all that.

That is tragic, I am so sorry you and your son are going through this. Please make sure he speaks to someone one and gets his emotions out as I am sure he is very traumatized by what he witnessed. I wish you all the best in getting through this horrible incident.

Re: I NEED YOU ALL....
I am defenitely going to take him for counseling. I know he will need it. It hasn't hit him fully yet..almost like it's not real..but he knows she's gone. He had to go back to her house to give another statement and show the detectives where he was. I don' tknow how they didn't find him when they first went into the house...but they didn't, which is why they thought he was missing. All that time he's in the bathroom...wondering what to do..not knowing all along that she was gone.

Re: I NEED YOU ALL....
OMG
There are just no words. But please, please do not take this on yourself and feel that if you had just told your son he had to stay home this never would have happened. And make sure that he knows that she didn't do this because he came over. While it may not have happened last night with your son hiding in the bathroom, it most certainly would have happened in the near future. Kids who contemplate suicide normally have more than one attempt before they are successful (if not caught in time), and if her father was physically abusive (and it sounds like at the very least he was last night), chances are last night was not her first attempt.
