How much is your wedding costing?
If you don't mind sharing what is your wedding going to cost, estimation? I want to know if we are in the ball park, I am guessing between 35-40k and am having a very hard time swallowing it. It is what I want to do, it just seems like soo much money. I wish I could figure out a way to do it cheaper. But apparently I have Champagne tast on a Beer budget.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I completely understand - I have the same problem. We started budgeting at $25K ...ha! that went out the window a long time ago...and we still haven't even booked everything.I think your estimte is realistic. It also depends on size, taste, style, etc.

Mine is going to be a little under this, probably like 30k so it is realistic

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
If you REALLY wanted to work around 25K, you could get that...all depends on how many people you invite too! And then of course a bunch of DIYs and then maybe package deals and stuff. But then again, you have to not expect top notch quality either....which I know is acceptable to me!! For example...I don't mind 'cheaping out' on flowers and limos b/c they are not most important to me! I'd rather make sure I have a good photographer first!
And so on and so forth...Good luck!

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
it is costing me way over my actual budget which was 30K... I think I am close to 38K now.. Ahhh... FH and I are paying for it ourselves. I guess that is why we are 2-3 jobs each.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I am a totally huge fan of DIY, and my mom and I are very creative and the stuff we make usually comes out awesome-looking. It takes a ton of time though. I think your budget also comes down to how much time and energy you can really expect to invest in the planning. (Will you really spend 4 hours a night for the next month making the favors, or 2 solid weekends hand-embossing the invitations?) I am also a broke college kid at the moment, so even though we have my parents financial help, i would like to keep all my costs under 15K. I think it can be done, and hope to document my success (or failure) for future brides to learn from...

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
That sounds like a normal cost. We were shooting for 35k and it's going to be more like 45k so just be careful that you are accounting for all the costs.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
The two biggest things are how many people you're inviting, and where you have the reception. Third is what time of year and what day of the week. If you want to get married on a Saturday between May and October, at anything over a VFW hall, and invite 200 people, yes, you're going to pay a lot for it. After that, you can make choices--the expensive choice, or the budget one. The $5,000 gown or the $1,000 gown, for example. That stuff adds up fast.My FH and I are trying to keep our wedding under $10K. And we're doing OK. The main thing is we're only having 85 guests, and we're keeping our eye on every purchase. And when you have fewer guests, everything costs less, because you need less. I only need ten centerpieces and fifty invitations, for example. But a small wedding isn't for everyone. But you can save money just by having a smaller bridal party--fewer bouquets, fewer gifts, fewer limos. Just an idea.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
Haven't really started planning, but I won't spend more than 20k for 150 people.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I don't think I am over 25 KIt really kills me to say that though when I just bought a house and I could have spent that money on more on the downpayment instead of this!

we are looking to buy a house soon, and trying to decide what money can go to the house and what money needs to be saved for the wedding. i hate having to prioritize like that. I wish i was just independently wealthy lol

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
My advice make a budget and stick to it. So far, we are right on target with the budget, we might wind up being about 1k over with tips. I have read people spending their entire budget on the reception hall and then going 10-20K+ over their budget. Know what you can afford and cut out the things that most people will not notice. Also keep the guest list down. Ideally I would have wanted 100 people, but now we are around 140. 40 extra people means a lot more money

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
Mine is going to cost 15K and we're doing really well so far. It really depends on the amount of people that you invite, we're only having about 70-80, so we need less invites,, flowers etc. We're also taking a simple hm to Maine.

Re: How much is your wedding costing?
I wanted to stay around 15k....but with hm it might be a lil more...I am trying to do it classy, without looking cheap. I keep telling myself....have you ever noticed someone's centerpieces before....do you remember what colors the flowers were on the table, or decorating the ceremony? And the answer is NO!! Everyone will have a good time regardless of if you have a big high centerpiece, or a candle centerpiece...so that is how I am thinking. But....if we are on a tight budget...buying a house to live in is more important to us....
