Help! I am scared that there will be no reception halls...

..available for July or August 2003. My boyfriend and I have put off getting engeged due to different circumstances but would like to get married in July or August of 2003. I have e-mailed several places about availability and have gotten disappointing responses--as in no availability. I don't know what to do--I am a teacher and don't want to try to squeeze a wedding and honeymoon in over Xmas or Easter breaks and I don't want to wait until summer 2004. Are there any reception halls out there that have dates in July or August available??? I know this is pushing it, but Saturday afternoon or evening would be best, but I guess we would take a Friday night and then a Sunday afternoon. Thanks you so much!

Hi Alison:
Are you set on a traditional wedding hall? For example, if you might go for something a little softer and classy, I suggest considering a vineyard wedding (good time of year for that). Depending on your taste, there are many non-traditional paths you can take that might offer some more scheduling flexibility. Feel free to call and brainstorm some other options.

Re: Help! I am scared that there will be no reception halls...

Hello,

While many brides plan their weddings two or three years in advance, many brides plan in a shorter time period, especially when you have to plan around the school year and you do not want to wait a whole year til summer 2004. As long as you are flexible with the date, you should not have difficulty in securing a reception hall for summer 2003.

Dear Ali,
Do not panic. When you have the chance call me at my office ( 631) 754-0594 or email me at [email protected] and I will give you specific names of locations that are available for your dates, banquet managers to contact as well as phone numbers. There should never be any stress connected with a wedding. Also take a look at the articles section on liweddings. I have four articles you should look at to help in the planning.

Re: Help! I am scared that there will be no reception halls...

If it helps my friend is not engaged yet because her boyfriend has a set date in his mind to propose for personal reasons. I cannot say when in case she is reading this Anyway they already booked their hall for this September because they wanted to be married in September and there are only 4 Saturdays in Septmeber. Just keep it a secret! You are going to get really good deals because of the time, ask halls if they have any cancellations.
Best of Luck
Christina

Re: Help! I am scared that there will be no reception halls...

Definitely do not panic. You will find the right place. Most places will have an opening or a cancellation some time in July or August, even if it is a Saturday afternoon. I can recommend some great catering halls with excellent food, service and ambiance and can put you in contact with friendly and helpful banquet managers. Another idea ... How about a Thursday night wedding They are becoming more and more popular. No different than a Sunday night wedding, people still have to work the next day, but hey, at least it's Friday instead of Monday! The other difference is that prices are lower and there is more flexibility with dates! Just something to consider! I'm sure it will work out for you! Good luck!

Re: Help! I am scared that there will be no reception halls...

I just did a wedding at a lovely little place called Indian Cove in Hampton Bays. It was a private building on the water with a relaxed atmosphere. Nice little place.
