every x-mas,,,, Nonna comes over...she has that tin with her!!! and NONNO takes each of us by the hand and brngs us to the tin,,like its a secret or something that they are in there....

I have another one for you ladies...Who here every year..has to help her mother make fresh tomatoe sauce...I swear..my mom and all of my aunts comes home with buckets of tomatoes and we sit in the yard and boil, peel, de-seed the tomatoes...the whole nine yards...we always have a seed fight..I think I get out of doing it this year now that I am NJ..

My mom has like 10 closets full of jarred tomatoes in the basement..

Thumballina!! you have me dying at my desk right now!!!!! I am crying..thats how hard I am laughing!!!!!!

Panettone!!!! I got to tell you this,,,,during x-mas I took my father to Marshalls!!! he needed to get socks so instaed of going to the mall and waiting on lines we went there...WELL..little did I know,,Marshalls sells Panettone!!! My father couldnt believe it!! All of a sudden I hear,,ROOOSARIAAAA!!!! I run over and he is standing there with like every box of Panettone they have and tells me to go get a carriage!!!! HE swore they made a mistake on the price and wanted to get them and get out of Marshalls before they realized it!!

I was literally on the floor..because I could't stop laughing!!!

My ex's mom made us ALL make sauce, wine, marinated artichokes, fresh pasta, and even pizza!!

Her daughters even had to freshly grate cheese every SUnday for dinner......and the limp salad late at night!

what about ARTICHOKES!!!! during Thanksgiving!!! it's like a race to the store!!!!!

and the fish before x-mas....

and every family member calling when the grocery store is having a sales on something or when the peaches are on sale!!!!

yes yes yes...forget it when 'la fruta' is on sale...every aunt is showing up at your door with bags of it...each swapping what they have for the other....I don't have too many fish stories because we're not big fish people...yes I know...how can that be...I'm Northern Italian...we ate/eat polenta on no meat days...now you wanna talk foreign...polenta...no one understands the concept of yellow mush....

In the summer,,if I get home before everyone else does,,I ALWAYS find a plastic bag in fron tof the door with,,parsley,tomato's,string beans,spinach, zucchini,,,ALL from the gardens of my uncles!! It gets to the point where thats all we are eating,,,

and then you have my mom in the backyard laying out the sliced eggplants for them to bake in the sun......

I cant believe I even posted...that!!

Fresh vegetables everywhere...you should see what my garden looks like...netting and wiring...and old window screens...each placed there on purpose...it makes them grow...don't remove it....
...nonno really knew what he was doing...the whole block would recieve fresh vegetables every afternoon...thanks to Nonno
