Re: Chateau la Mer Thread

We are staying at the Four Points Sheraton in Plainview, like Katie said, and as of now they have no bus service... However we are just going to get a van from our limo company to drive guests to and from the reception. The closest hotel is probably the Best Western but I dunno how nice it is. We were also looking for someplace with a bar that would be open late. Michael is great to work with over there, if anyone wants the number let me know... they are a vendor on here tho!

I think he said it was open until 1 but that if we told them for sure there were a group of us coming back they'd keep it open. They are actually building it right now, it is due to open this summer! Call and talk to Michael, he's great

Ladies, I wanted to know what hotel you guys are going to use. Does the hotel they suggest offer shuttle service (I think it is on 110). My FH mentioned the Bar Harbor Best Western on Sunrise (Massapequa?) Any comments/thoughts?

Huntington Hilton has shuttle service for $400. We found it would be cheaper to get a van from our limo company.

I saw a room in the Best Western once, it was okay... There are no inside entrances, its more of a 'motel'...

Thanks Jenny. I think its kind of crazy that these catering halls don't have any pull w/ the hotels. I mean I'm sure they are giving them a large number of customers throughout the year. You would think they'd have a shuttle service.

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread

I know Michael said that they are working on getting a shuttle they just haven't done it yet... They are in the process of building and renaming stuff so I think its just too busy for them right now. They usually jack up the prices though anyway!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread

Jenn-- I am not sure what Holiday Inn you are talking about?

Amy-- probably the Best Western in Massapequa on Sunrise Highway. It's not a beautiful place, more like a motor inn but it is close. Otherwise I would say probably the Huntington Hilton

that's about right. My parents live in Hauppauge. We are having our guests stay at the Sheraton near there...we got two big shuttle buses to transport our guests to and from CLM.

Welcome all the new CLM brides...haven't been on this thread in a while!!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread

How early did you guys do your menus? We still have a good five months to go and Lou called last night to set up a meeting to go over menus and cake... I thought it was really early and also was surprised he called since we have been dealing with Nick. Anyone else get a call this early?

That is weird, we wanted to do our menu when we were home in NY in March (4 months before the wedding) and Lou said we couldn't do it until 6 weeks before so we had to make another trip to NY. Hey one more thing to get off the list early though. Kind of gets me a little angry though that they wouldn't let us do that in March considering we don't live in NY!

I'd be angry too! I just want to make sure we are still dealing with Nick from now on!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread

That's strange. Don't you do the menu when you make all the final payments and give them the final head count like 2 months before?

FInal head count and payment is one week before. Menu is more like 2 months-6 weeks before (but seems to be changing with the calls everyone has gotten).
