I do not want to get anyone mad but I never understood why people were offended by these kinds of posts, stating what size your ring is has nothing to do with how much your hubby loves you, no one on here has ever knocked anyone because they had a small diamond its all about looking at pretty rings.

I agree whats the big deal - how is it bragging becuase you say the size. I dont care or hate on the ppl whose ring is bigger than mine. I am in Love with my ring and its beautiful to me, thats why I named her Princess

I agree- I never understood why people get mad either- it's all in good fun- people are curious-this is a wedding website and the orginal poster wanted to compare to an article she found

if you don't want to partipate- don't click on the post

I agree completely. Why is posting and asking questions about rings any different from posting and asking questions about gowns, flowers, favors, etc. It all pertains to weddings which is what this site is all about! JMHO

Because certain things are different. Threads about rating your hall causes drama. Starting threads about why you hate certain photographers, videographers and florists are uncalled for. Yes we are here to give advice and share opinions, but I think it's about doing so in a tactful manner. Posting a picture of your ring leaves it to the imagination what your 'ring size' is. This was meant to be a poll. It could be anonymous. No one needs to post carat size and like posted by a bride before me, no one has mentioned that there carat is less than .5. Why do you think? JMO

I understand your point, but mine is that this is all about what you want to post about concerning weddings--If a bride wants to talk about her ring or gown or hall and how much it is a plate, then so what--all in good fun. Like someone said in a previous post-people who don't enjoy the topic don't participate. None of the posts on this thread were meant to intentionally hurt anyone and no one is being bashed in any way. .

Back to the picture taking comment, BKtoLI--how did you get that pic of your rings? It's fantastic. I use the close-up setting and I still haven't been able to get a great pic. Beautiful ring, by the way!

I've tried every setting on my camera, different lighting, flash on, flash off, and still can't get a good picture. There's got to be a way to do it, but I just like to think that it's because my diamond is so darn sparkly...

For those that asked.....

The best setting to take a close up picture of your ring is digital macro, or the flower icon. It looks like a tulip usually. Not all digital cameras have this setting. (I think any camera under 3 megapixels rarely has the setting).

Otherwise, it's all trial and error in fiddling with the settings. I also found the portrait setting to work equally well if that helps!!!

Do you have a close-up setting? Try that with no flash - it worked for me.

Now, if only I could get it to resize... let me try again.

Ok, here we go again, let's hope it works.
My ring is 2 carats, but I would've loved it even if it were .2 carats because FH picked it out and he did it on his own. I feel very lucky to have him and to have what he gave me. And I usually don't provide my ring info, but I don't see what difference it makes. I don't think rings are any different from weddings - 10K or 100K - or jobs or any of the other topics we post about - to each his own. It's a free forum and just posting information is not being insensitive. No one's trying to be malicious here and I'd like to think we all would recognize that.

thats why i clicked on this thread. actually, me and FH picked out the ring 2gether. the carat weight is a certain sexual position (and yes we did that on purpose) the colour is an intial of ours, we bought it in australia, but the diamond was cut in NY and we made sure to get a diamond that wasnt from africa (i feel the mine conditions there are awful and i didnt want to wear something on my finger that a 12 year old child picked). i actually researched what diamond mine conditions were in different countries. the country i chose (canada) had good conditions. i didnt want a blood diamond or a third world diamond. i am not any better than anyone else and i think i would just feel guilty wearing a big diamond, when i knew that that person who picked that diamond is probably really poor.

yes we are severe liberals.

to add to that i am so happy with my ring. it sparkles a lot and it make me smile, that is all that counts.

end my liberal views here.

Re: How big is it- with poll

There is no need for anyone to be offended by this post because the post was not intended to be malicious or boastful. For some people the size of a ring is all that matters to each his own. Do not knock anyone. For me it is about the clarity, cut, color, and yes a decent size. But most of all I am for the clarity and the color. That is just me. Let us all have some fun without being too judgmental of others for their taste.

You know what...to some girls the size doesnt matter..honestly it doesnt...

But to others the size is all that matters and they wait for every opportunity to talk about the size. You can tell the difference....

There shouldnt be drama regarding this topic.

ETA: Be proud of whatever you have..and be happy for the other girl!
