Hi Everyone!!
I am new to the board and I joined especially to see if anyone was having thier reception at Atlantica. Can anyone tell me how much they are paying per head if they don't mind? I want to check it out b/c it's my favorite long island spot, but if it's way too pricey I want to know before I drive all they way out there! Any info would be appriciated!!

I went to the tasting on Saturday-I'm stuffed!

We picked our cake, which was great. I'm just a little nervous about our choices. We chose half chocolate w/hazelnut and half pistachio w/white chocolate mousse.

We are having other desserts so it should be okay. But still, I am wondering if we should have done half chocolate and half yellow cake.

Also, did anyone think that the chocolate fountain was small? I've been to other weddings were the fountain was much larger, I now I'm a little worried.

I also walked away from the event a little worried about the overall abundance of food during the cocktail hour. People from LI are used to having tons of food at the cocktail hour and it doesn't seem like it is going to be that way here. I don't know. I love Atlantica, but I am worried about the food issue. I'll talk to the staff and discuss my concerns. However, the food was great.

I have the same concerns! I didnt get there until 330, I figured there was more food being passed earlier, we only sampled 3 things! Im starting to worry about my no stations cocktail hour.

Also I was told they were re placing the dance floor and cleaning the drapes...well the drapes still had stains, and the dance floor was still all stratched up.

The chocolate fountain was very small, and I am glad we are not paying extra for that, for what they charge I expected a really big one, like you see at most bridal shows, this looks like the one you can buy at BBB.

Is it just me, or did the room feel smaller? Everytime I have been there, it has been me, fh, and our bm, this time it was us and 120 other people, a nd it just felt so small...I couldnt imagine another 60 people in that room

I don't think the food should be an issue. I didn't sample all the things either but this was the first time that they had the tasting event. Hopefully they just have to work out a few glitches. Also, although there are not many past Atlantica brides, the ones that have posted a review did not mention that there was not enough food at cocktail hour.

I was told that the dance floor would be polished also. The only thing I can think of is that they don't do it until just before wedding season (late spring/summer)
Definitely keep us posted about what they say. For the price they are charging per person there should not be any issues on the day of our wedding!!!

I wasnt told polished, I was told replaced...we were also told the bathrooms would be re grouted..otherwise we werent going to sign the contract...unfortunately I did not check the bathrooms

Yeah, Im calling them tomorrow anyway to talk about our tasting on the 23, so I am going to ask my 500 questions then. Honestly right now its not a big deal, but FMIL think if the bathroom looks run down, that people will feel that way about the wedding, you know people always remember the bad.

I agree about the bathroom. It is definitely not the nicest I've been to. Would be interested to hear what they say about the renovations. I also thought they were adding some things to the bridal suite (couches, etc). It's not a big deal -- just curious. Let me know if you guys get any feedback on the bathroom or any other questions you had. Thanks!

I thought the tasting was awesome, we had so much fun. We even met another couple from Babylon and were comparing places to hang out.

Blue Tulip- We also picked the Pistachio cake, but with chocolate filling. This was my FI's thing so he was really excited. It sounds terrible but tasted so good, just go with it! Can't wait for your detailed review!

I talked to Kristy about our cocktail stations and she reassured me that they normally don't have all the stations out a once, so some of the stations looked skimpy because they ran out of serving dishes. And they really didn't know how much food to prepare since it was there first event.

As for the renovations, they told me that they were doing the bathroom, the ceiling things and the bridal suite too, but you know what it's not a big deal. I booked it because I loved the location and the view more than everything else.

If you wanted 17 cocktails stations you would have picked another hall, so just relax and let Atlantica take care of everything. All of the reviews and everyone I have talked too say it's great , so I have every confidence in them!

Fireworks you are a wise woman-I just need to chill out. Kristy said she'd help me find a way to beef up the cocktail hour so we shall see. I do love her, she's always so helpful.

The cake is going to remain. The pistachio is really good so we are stick with the have pistachio and half chocolate, We will have other dessert if anyone is unhappy with their cake.

We are having our cocktail hour start at 6:30. Sunset is 8;30 in July, so the sun will be setting around the time dinner is being served. Hope that helps.

In late October it will be iffy to have your cocktail hour oon the beach. It's usually much cooler at night right on the water.

Yeah, I'm having a 5:30 start specifically because I want a couple hours of daylight on the deck so that we can capitalize on the view too.

The deck has heaters so not worried about that at all, I have actually been on the deck in late October, it was great! We just have to start early, around 430, so guests can see it in day light

Had our formal tasting last night, everything was lovely. They are still working on renovations. They are replacing a section of the material that hangs inside, because it is badly stained, and they are still fixing the bathrooms.

I had never been there at night before, it is stunning inside at night, I am back to being over joyed about everything!

Where is everyone having their rehearsal? We picked ours last night on a rec from our bm..just curious where everyone else is going
