Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

The redness I think is normal if you have sensitive skin..mine gets red but my sister's never does.

I always go to either Shingar which is also on Hillside Ave on the border of New Hyde Pk and Queens or a new one called 'Pearl Beauty Salon' on Jericho Tpke in New Hyde Park.
Im also really picky bout my eyebrows and wont get it done unless it my 'usual' lady at either spot..

I used to get pimples AFTER getting them done so now I dont have them put lotion on me just the astringent (with a cotton ball)..if their hands arent totally clean i think that can give you pimples...

Invitation Wording

Wasn't sure if you are looking for specifically Indian invitation wording. The websites below are for general wording.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I'll scan in my invitation later today. I had some sanskrit on the top.

I wanted my parents to be the ones to be the hosts so we had their names on top (although in India they usually put uncles/grandparents names) and under my name we put something like 'granddaughter of so and so...'

Also, on the left side of the card, we put 'with compliments from' and then listed my brother and a couple of cousins.

It will be easier to understand when i scan in the invitation.

Check the indianweddingcard.com website--

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I was wondering if any of you Desi Brides have any recommendations for a rehersal dinner. Preferably, an Indian restaurant with a private room for around 40-50 thats reasonably priced in Hicksville/Betpage/Huntington area. Any suggestions?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

You could try The Cotillion (its under new management so not sure if thats still the name) its in the Jericho/Syosset area though.
Jewel of India is also in that area.

FH's church is in Hicksville so I'll ask him and let you know about any spots there.

Oh yeah Cotillion is a good suggestion. I had forgotten about them.

I will check out Jewel of India as well.

Also, Soontobe.. your avatar picture of a cake. Is that the cake you are having for your wedding? Where is it from? Its quite pretty :)

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

My hall is saying that I only need a three tier cake for my wedding (320 guests).

Does this sound too small?
