My wedding is in 5 days-AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
My videographer is not Indian so I will need to provide him with 4-5 songs for the different segments of the video. Anyone have any recommendation for Hindi favorites for 'Childhood Pictures Montage' 'Getting Ready' ,'Meeting at the Arch (for when you throw the garlands on each other)', 'Getting Married', 'Cocktail Hour' 'Reception', 'Saying Goodbye to All', and for the 'Highlights Recap'? I really appreciate it!
Ok for the bride getting ready 'pretty woman' from Kal Ho Na Ho... love that song

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hi,Does anyone know if it is possible to rent fromal churidar kurtas and jodhipuris from anywhere in NY? I will have non-desi people in the wedding and I have been thinking about having the men wear something like that, but I know they won't already own this type of clothing.
TIA

I don't know about NY. I know back in the day when I was in college, we used to rent outfits for dances from Edison, NJ so that we all matched on stage.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I also have only heard of renting outfits for dances and even then its hard to find decent ones! I dont think you can rent jodphuri outfits for guys. Especially if your looking for something similar for the guys and nice enough for a wedding. If you know anyone going to India/Pakistan, see if they can bring them back for you, you can get nice sherwanis (on the simpler side though) for about $50. Its always ALOT cheaper than buying it from here.Good luck!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
This isn't a question post, but just a happy, elated post! My FMIL is soo goooood to me. She's in India right now and she's buying me a whole bunch of stuff for FH & I to wear to the e-party! I haven't seen any of it yet - she hasn't returned from Mumbai - but hopefully she will send me some pictures when she gets back to her house. So excited!

Hello Ladies....I need your help in finding a sirbandhi (I don't know how to spell it), but its the jewelry for your hair. I bought my bridal set in gold but I still need that piece. I need something in only gold, no color stones. Something nice, not simple. Thanks

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hey-I actually tried Cotillian once, and I actually like Sitar's food better.
Ladies- I need a little help...
I am having desi food at the wedding, but I am little concerned about providing food for my Non-Desi co-workers and friends. Some of them have had Desi food before and are accustomed to the taste, but many are not familiar with our food. So the big question:
Should I have at least one or two dishes at the buffet that they would consider eating or should I just have the Desi buffet and hope for the best? I'm open to suggestions...
Thx

I would imagine that if there are little cards indicating what each of the foods are, your friends would be willing to try it especially if they knew what was in each food. I think it should be ok.
Were you considering having another caterer make non-Indian food and add that to the Indian buffet?
(I don't have personal experience with this since I didn't have Indian food at my wedding.)

My caterer is Sitar and he gave us the option of having Indian food on the menu. I have not decided what items I will be having on the menu. Those of you who have eaten Sitar's food, any recommendations on must have items on the menu?

Thanks! I called Sargam, they seem very professional but their price is higher than I wanted to spend. And Stan Weist is even higher than them! Thanks for the suggestion though!
