My Fiancee is part of the Church of South India and are having problems finding a church. His church isn't bad but we both agree that we don't want his pastor to officiate (most of the guests are white/mixed and the pastor's English isn't very good) and we don't feel right asking to use his church with another pastor. Where is Armudaun church and what are their restrictions?
Thanks!

No restrictions. They are a Korean Presbyterian Church location in Bethpage, right behind Briarcliff College. You just have to pay a fee (and its wasn't cheap).

Any of you get married at St. Demetrios Church in Merrick or know someone who has? My fiance and I are both Orthodox and we wanted to get married at St. Demetrios. We are not members of the church so they told us it costs $900 to use the church and another $250 to have someone there (we're getting married next Labor Day). Is this how much it is or am I being taken for a ride?

Can anyone help?????

I didn't get married there. However, we paid roughly that much for our church. I haven't seen St. Demetrios but you may also consider Arumdaun Presbyterian Church where I got married. It was absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Riniko!!! Actually the church you suggested is a little far since my fiance is coming from Jersey. But its ok. we're gonna get married at St.Demetrios. It all worked out in the end. Thanks for all your tips and help!!

Thanks! That's all my FH job to arange and I think that this sounds great. Do you have any pics so we can get an idea before we go? You might have actually saved him too much work and I'll have to give him another assignment!

Thanks again.

Hi girls,

I'm also a malu bride looking for a church near Leonard's of Great Neck for an Orthodox wedding. The Catholic churches are giving us problems. Anyone have suggestions?

Also about DJs---has anyone heard anything about DJ Roby Chacko? (hes a malu DJ)

Any places for makeup suggestions?

I'm not from LI so it hard for me to know whats around the area.

Any advice would be helpful!!

Thanks!

My future brother-in-law had his ceremony in a little church on Grace Ave. in Great Neck a few blocks from Leonards-, they had their reception there as well. It wasn't in perfect condition but wasn't bad. It's not very large but they invited 430 or so- not sure how many were at the church. We had to park in municipal lots near the church and walk but it wasn't too bad. FM me and I'll try to get more info from him for you. The church is the hardest part! Maybe your priest can contact people for you? I think that would make it easier for you.

I love the first one! It's actually the one I'd like to have for the Muslim ceremony. But, I think he wants me to wear red.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hi Sds02,

You can use this website to find some vendors:
http://bmser.bharatmatrimony.com/wedding/directory/us/index.shtml?CN=US

I hear both Mandap and Elegant affairs are really good.
I visited Unique Emporium in Floral Park and they weren't too pricy.

I am having my wedding in NJ - Did anyone have a person to put on their outfits (sari or lengha) for him at their wedding? If so, and if they would be able to travel to my wedding site, could you please let me know.

TIA!

I saw pictures from a recent wedding that was a combo of Hindu & Christian. The bride had BM and GM. At the reception the BM changed into their own outfits though.

If you'd like to do it, Im sure theres a way to work that into your wedding.

My MOH was going to sort of be the MOH for her friend who's Muslim- it wasn't anything official. The bride was had a special outfit made for my MOH to wear and she'd plan the parties for her but I don't think she'd have been recognized during the cermony/reception as special. I can't tell you how it turned out b/c it was an arranged marriage and the guy's family forced him to call the wedding off!!

My point, you can def work it in if you want!
