Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I really need to go see this movie. I cannot believe that Ash is coming to Hollywood. I saw the 60 minutes special on her but missed Letterman. I saw a commercial yesterday on ABC for the movie but they did not mention her name at all.. it was something to the effect of LA meets Bombay (the movie is set in Amritsar!) and little about from the 'Producer of Bend it Like Beckham'.Nonetheless, Ash is definitely getting a lot of nice press. I would be interested in hearing what the public makes of the movie.
And if I can comment... who really likes that dress that Ash is wearing? It looks okay on her.. but I don't LOVE it. She coulda looked way better.

Yeah I liked her dress too..I thought it was different, but I think another color would have looked better.. but doesnt matter cuz she could wear sweats and still look amazing!
wow I didnt hear bout Good Morning America! Im going to have to tape it..and Oprah?! Where did you hear that? Thats so funny, when my sisters and I were watching Letterman we were saying if she makes it on Oprah forget about it, everyone will know who she is!! yay!!!
Sonia- your lucky your husband doesnt stress over her...at the premier my FH couldnt sit still thinking Ash was gonna come out (poor guy he was so upset she didnt) and even then thru the whole movie I had to sit there listening to him go on and on about how gorgeous she is!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
MrsA - my husband feels the way you do about me being in love with her! except he just sits there saying she has a pointy chin when you look at her profile and how she doesn't have a flat stomach .. i think he's jealous I wish your FH could have seen her yesterday!riniko - i really am obsessed haha - no doubt about that.
Good morning america tomororow - supposedly between 730am and 8. I'll keep you updated on Oprah if I hear anything else.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Personally I think satin/silk is the best material for BM sarees cuz you can get alot of beadwork done on it and they can leave the pallu out which looks so nice when they walk down the aisle and in pics...thats the one thing I really regret bout my BM sarees..its the heavier material.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I am so confused about what material is best for the BMs sarees. Even if theygot silk, I would want the pallu pinned up rather than it being out. The girls will be running around all dayand also having to carry bouquets. It would just be a pain ... what do you ladies think.Casting call seems interesting... it doesn't apply to me...but I think the show maybe interesting!

Which card did you pick? How many cards did you order and what was the total bill for? I am looking at the site as an option as well.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hi Tillu - Welcome to the boards :)Everyone else,
I am looking for rehersal dinner locations in the vicinity of Huntington. I looked into Jewel of India and Cotillion. Have any of you been to either place for a catered event? If so, what were your thoughts.
Any other suggestions for restaurants/small catering options in the Huntington vicinity. I am thinking of NOT using Sitar b/c they are my caterer. But maybe I will cuz they are redoing their resturant and it might look exceptionally nice at that time.
As always, thanks in advance
BTW - I got my hands on the last 3 copies of Shaadi Style which is an Indian Wedding Magazine. If anyone is looking for anything in particular give me a holler and I will look in the magazine and scan or post the relevant matter.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
i have not been to a catered event by jewel of india or cotillion. sowwwwy!!!how many people are you planning on having?
My question to you guys. Given that Indian people are always late w/everything....how far in advance are you making your RSVP dates??
Also, are you putting an earlier ceremony time on your invites?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Rini- My cousins just went to an engagement party last Sunday at the Cotillion and said the food was really good. I went there for a college semi-formal 2 years ago but it was under different ownership at the time..but even then the food was still good!Did you look into the Sterling at all? They usually cater out from other restaurants. I think Cotillion might give you a better deal though.
Leena- We put an RSVP date of May 1st on the invites (so bout 7 weeks before our wedding date) but I know alot of people dont bother sending them back so my parents are going to call guests to confirm either way.
And we wanted to start the ceremony latest by 4pm so on the invites we put 3:30pm..but hopefully we can get started at 3:45, we're not going to wait around till everyone shows up!!
