I'm 1/2 Irish and so is FH! I like the Irish wedding blessing. Def. want to incorp some irish traditions into the wedding.

Love this thread! I'm an Irish bride too. Born and raised in Ireland-came here when I was 8. My FI is not Irish but he does love Guinness. I'm trying to incorporate some Irish details in my wedding too. I'm doing the six pence in the shoe and I'm having a horseshoe sewn onto to my bouquet for good luck. Of course, there will be Irish music at the reception as well, but that's it for now. Trying to think of more ideas too!

I am an Irish bride to - both my parents were born there and my FH is from Ireland. We willl be having lots of people from Ireland at the wedding.

We are having an irish band, we definately will be doing the siege of ennis
our ring pillow has the claddagh on it and i am hoping to find a unity candle with the claddagh.

During the wedding ceremony we will have the irish wedding song sung. As in irish tradition we are going to give our moms flowers at the reception.

I don't know what other things we will incorporate

i'm italian but fh is part irish we are having the irish wedding song sung/played during the candle lighting ceremony.. b/c i want to have something irish in the wedding... any other ideas..

I'm a 100% Irish, father was born here, but his mother was born there, my mom was born there. Have visited too many times to count and been to Ireland for a semester during college.

FH is 50% Irish, but unfortunetly not his father's side, so there goes my Irish name

We will have my friends husband play the bagpipes outside the church and him and my father will probably play a few at the reception. During a DJ break. My cousin will also play the accordian at one point and my cousin, my sister and myself, will all attempt to do Irish dancing in our dresses. I danced from when I was 4-17, my cousin is still doing it, and my sister also is still doing it.

I will have the horseshoe sewn into my bo-k. My cousin already bought me my claddagh unity candle that is mullingar pewter. My coworkers got me waterford toasting flutes. I also have to make the DJ some irish music cd's to make sure it is all covered especially the siege of ennis.

What Irish songs are you going to have the DJ play??? ANd do you know where your cousin got the Unity Candle from???

I'm only a tiny bit Irish but, my FH is Irish!

We're having bagpipes at our reception and we're having Celtic Cross as our band as well. They are great!

I'm not sure what else yet we are incorporating into the wedding but, I'm sure there will be something.

I am 100% Irish... my parents are from Ireland, my mom from Donegal, my Dad from Leitrim. I hold my Irish passport and travel there frequently. Probably about 90% of the guests will be Irish and FH and I are hoping about 20 of our cousins, aunts/uncles etc. will be traveling from Ireland for the wedding. Unfortunately, Sean (my FH) is only Irish on his mother's side so I am inherting a very hefty Italian name that I am still trying to pronounce perfectly.... hahaha. But Sean spent most of his childood in Ireland, so he is with me in terms of doing mostly Irish traditions.

Regarding Irish traditions, I am incorporating several. During the Mass, I am presenting flowers to the Virgin Mary and I am thinking we will have Lady of Knock sung here.... Regarding the tradition of giving the mothers flowers, I have seen that done at the Sign of Peace... I might to do it then, but may do it right before we present the flowers to Mary's altar.

My cousin is playing the bagpipes outside of the church before and after. We are having an Irish band at the reception (THANKS to chellynyc for the recommendation!) We will be doign several ceilis and such at the reception as we both have World Champion stepdancers in the family that we'll show off because I have two left feet! ;) We are thinking of ending our reception with the Irish Wedding song, but I haven't decided on that just yet!

My mom bought mine at Kathleen's of Donegal in RVC. It has a beuatiful poem that came with it too! Or if you have any left over change from before the Euro change, that will work too!

Kathleen's also has unity candles and other wedding things .... as does most Irish import shops. Most of these shops are a bit expensive in my opinion, but you might want to check them out.

ha ha I know exactly where it is, my mother is from the town right next door, Ballinamore, I have cousins who live in mohill.
