How about a Friday night in November?

I think a Sunday wedding in November would be beautiful there. Depending on the time of day you had, you and your guests would have some terrific view of the folliage and the river.
Of course, I'm partial to Sunday weddings

How was the picture taking in DEcember?
Most of teh appeal there is teh picture taking and i woud like to be there during daylight to take some awesome pics. How is the lightning there at night?

I was told you can go there up to one hour before your wedding, if that helps you

You should ask about the lighting outside and where they take pics at night.

That great pic of the BP running from the mansion is so great. But that is in the day.

Any other VM brides planning to do anything with the screens that block off the coat check area and the area with the bulletin boards?

I feel like they look like someone picked up some unfinished wood at Home Depot and slapped them together... doesn't exactly go with the look of the rest of the place. I was thinking of trying to drape them with some material or something?

Hmm, I hadn't thought about it. Guess I don't really remember seeing them. Do you have photos showing them in the background? I kind of feel like some things like that, nobody will see b/c in most cases its the first time they've seen the place and I know that it totally bowls you over the 1st time. When we went the second time, we saw all sorts of stuff we didn't see the first time but nothing really troubling.

I may feel differently when I go and look for this though...

Just be aware that you should have some back-up dates in mind. Dowling ended up taking all of the October dates that we wanted, so ended up with 9/30/06. Of course I'm perfectly happy now, but at first I was a bit disappointed since we had been waiting for so long to hear...

Have you considered a daytime wedding? We really wanted a Saturday, too, and the peak months were too much $ for us to commit to an evening. I'm really psyched for the daytime now, but I suppose it's up to your preference.

i liked evening & can't afford their peak time so ... I don't think we're even considering them anymore,. they were our 1st choice

it's at the top of our VERY short list. so far that will be the one - fh LOVED it. but it's kinda far from us - that's really the only down side. we're just gonna see one more place next saturday and then we decide.
