you can do them, you just cant light them something about safety and drycleaning bills etc. etc. etc. I was so mad about that!

OK gang we just got back from JT and I asked a bunch of questions for you ladies......

First off about the noise issue if you are having your ceremony in the Skylight room. My BM said that it depends on the party upstairs whether noise would be an issue or not!! He said if there are a bunch of kids running around, then yes, there might be noise, but that was a Christening, and we're not getting married around that time.

I would check if there will be parties upstairs at the same time. (Which is something I forgot, but I'm almost positive there is.)

About the chair covers he was not budging. As hideous as the chairs are, I may just deal with them for now. He said they only get them for about $3 per cover, so they don't really make any money on them. If I end up with an extra $400 in my budget, I will spring for them.

As for if you can negotiate your contract after it's been signed, he said absolutely, that people change things all the time. You just end up making an addendum to the contract.

He also said if you end up below your minimum, they will either work with you on the pricing, or they will throw in something to make up for the difference.

Candle placecards are not allowed because of the fire hazard I was told.

Then he told me not to worry, that they will handle everything for us that day.

We have the Skylight room for the Ceremony, the Terrace room for the CH and then the Oak room for the reception. We have the deluxe menu without the Viennese. We altered our menu slightly to remove some items to make it more cost effective, and to eliminate things we know no one will eat!!

What ticks me is there are no pics or even mention of the Oak Room on their website!! And there is only 1 PIC of it in their brochure, and it's used as a ceremony space!!

No candle place cards is disappointing. Do you know if that is b/c people have to carry them to the tables?? Do they have restrictions against candles already on the tables (ie. part of the centerpiece or votives already placed and lit)? Any info will be much appreciated. I am considering a large 14 inch vase with a tall candle as a table number. It will be lit and stationary on the table. Is this a problem??!!??

If you use candles as part of your CPs then that is allowed. But for some reason they will not allow the candle placecards. (I have no idea why this is, I'm just going by what I was told.) I'm guessing they are worried about people possibly dropping them from being hot, or getting burned or spilling wax accidentally. With the CPs there is less of a chance of that happening.

Holy Moly! How did I miss this thread? I've been out of the loop, I guess.

Does anyone know if JT provides menus or if we have to bring our own? If they provide them, does anyone have a pic?

Also, when should I expect the letter telling me to set up my appointment? I am a little over two months away, and I haven't heard anything yet.

i had my heart set on these too..... but actually, you'd be suprised how many halls are NOT letting people do these anymore - i guess they're realizing more accidents are happening??? when u think about it it DOES make sense(although i still hate it

) but really - people walking AFTER the cocktail hour with lit candles to their room & table??? i still wish i could have them though! lol
