Ceremony at 3pm
Cocktail Hour at 7pm
Reception from 8pm-1am

The church is in Queens and the reception is in Nassau. I figure the ceremony will be about an hour in total. So by 4pm we'll head out to Old Westbury Gardens for pictures and have family meet us at the hall around 5:30/6:00 for pictures before the cocktail hour. FH's aunt offered to have people come back to her house after the ceremony since she is halfway between the church and LI. I've been to plenty of weddings with a large gap. Some people go to the church and then go on their own to get ready or whatever before the reception and some people only go to the reception. Don't worry about what they'll do - you're priority is what you will do.

You are so right... My mom is begging me to push the ceremeony back to 3 30...and start the cocktail at 6:30..

NOt to mentioned she wants me to walk in the church 15-20 mins late!!!!

My church is in Queens. Reception is in LI and I figured it will be about a 30 min drive. with no traffic...

I am tired already.... of thinking... to much

Re: What time does your Ceremony/Cocktail hour Start?

We're going through the same thing right now. My church is booked for 5 pm and CH at 7:30 but i'm reconsidering. I'm calling the church and catering hall today to change the times to 3:00 and 6:30. Here's the thing about leaving too much time in between for guests not to know what to do with. Its YOUR wedding. YOU are spending a TON of money. Why rush things??? So your guests will have an hour to kill. what's the big deal? They'll get over it just like you did all those times you had some time to kill between church and reception. I decided that its better to take your time and enjoy your wedding day then to rush around in order to save your guests an hour. What about pictures? You need that time to take them! I personally want my day to last as long as possible and that's why i'm changing the times to what you currently have. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! :)

Re: What time does your Ceremony/Cocktail hour Start?

My ceremony begins at 4pm and Cocktail Hr starts at 7:00 pm.

We wanted to leave enough time for travel. \

The ceremony is in Brooklyn and the Reception is in West Hempstead and plus it is Labor Day weekend.

ceremony at 3 and the cocktail hour is at 6 . The manager at the hall said that if guests show a little early that it would be fine.

My Banquet Manager said the same thing. I thought that was a nice gesture.

Re: What time does your Ceremony/Cocktail hour Start?

Okay Ladies....

My mom..is not sure if she wants to accomodate people after the ceremony in her house. She would prefer for people to just go straight to the reception hall.

I spoke to the reception hall manager and he said, the guest will have to come directly...at the prompt time. There is not space available.. O well!!!

So, now I will beg the priest again..to push the time back on the Ceremony --- 3 30pm. CH starting 6 30pm. I guess.. that will be enough time..for the people...

LUCKILY...

The reception is a 20-30 min drive from the church.

Re: What time does your Ceremony/Cocktail hour Start?

Church is at 4 or 4:30, have to confirm with the priest

Cocktail Hour is at 7
Dinner is at 8

I am worried about the in between time.. the church & hall are only 1/2 away from each other.. so if church is over by 5:45ish, they will atleast be an 1/2 early..

Re: What time does your Ceremony/Cocktail hour Start?

Our ceremony is at 2:30 in St. James and our CH starts at 7:00 in Baiting Hollow. The church wouldn't let us have it any later.

I'd rather have too much time than not enough because I don't want to miss any of the CH due to taking pictures. I think a lot of people are going to stay in a hotel that night by the reception so that will give them time to check in and relax for a little bit.
