I told all of my friends that they can wear white. No one is going to say, 'hm... is that the bride in the little white cocktail dress, or the one in the big gown w/18 pounds of veil on her head...???'

No I wouldn't...there are plenty of other dresses and colors out there that you can save a white dress for another occasion.

If you were told to wear white by the bride then I think it's fine or if it's a white theme wedding. But to just wear white because you want to? I think that is wrong and tacky.

I was at a wedding and an older woman, say, 50 years old, was wearing an off-white suit. She looked soooo out of place, and everyone was glaring at her and sneering all night. Probably helped by the fact that the blouse was unbuttoned waaaaay to low and the skirt was waaaaaay too short. The whole package just screamed, 'look at me!' And I think that's the only kind of woman who would wear white to a wedding. A 'look at me! ME ME ME!' kind of lady. Everyone knows it's wrong but she did it anyway. It's like the kids who misbehave in school - they crave attention, and even negative attention is better than none at all.

This is funny actually but my friends MOTHER IN LAW wore white to her wedding!



Obviously they dont have a good relationship and when FH said something to her about it she started getting really loud and yelling, 'It's not white - it is ivory!' and making a scene. It was totally one for the books...
