Well, I guess I can't avoid this thread...
I wore a short ivory and gold dress to a wedding last summer and got ripped a new one for it. Honestly, I was not trying to upstage the bride, I wasn't looking for the attention... I thought it was a cute greecian looking dress, but clearly I was wrong for wearing it.
I just feel bad, three other people borrowed that dress after i wore it for other weddings.
That dress wasnt even white. It was ivory AND it had other colors on it.
I agree..it was so pretty!! I wouldnt mind if someone showed up to my wedding in that dress. I dont care what they wear, as long as its not jeans, khakis and button downs or something casual
I cant wear white anyway, makes me look really fat
I agree, my dress will be champagne

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
I'd never ever wear white. I went to a wedding in Chicago last summer and there were 2 or 3 people in allll white. Like solid wedding white. i was so mad at them for my cousin and I had no idea who they were!I wore Ivory to my sisters but thats cus i was the MOH and it was the color she picked out. But that is an exception.

Only if I wanted to get jumped. Or if it's P Diddy style and is a white themed event.

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
IMHO I dont think I would care if someone wore white to my wedding. As a previous poster stated I would be dissapointed if someone showed up in jeans or something moreso than a white dress. However, I would NEVER wear white to someone else's wedding out of respect for the bride. She might not feel the same way I do.

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
I told my friends they could wear white and a few showed up in cute white cocktail dresses. It was barely noticeable...I didn't even realize until I was looking back at my non-pro pics. Some dresses are just cuter in white!

I love that dress!!! I've looked at your pics before and I've seen it. I think I would have worn it to a wedding. Were people AT the wedding complaining?

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
Unless I was specifically told to wear white I would NEVER do it. I was at a wedding last summer and at least 7 people at 2 different weddings wore solid white dresses. I think that is sooo wrong. One of them was a floor length gown with beading around the bodice. It is inappropriate, IMO.

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
no I agree it is an unspoken rule.... I remember when trying to decide if I should get ivory or white I figured if I get light ivory it should look white. and then I said to myself I'm sure I will be the only one in a white dress..........

Re: Would you wear white to someone's wedding?
I wouldn't.But I don't think it's like 'you can't wear white bc you'll look like the bride' a white cocktail dress probably wouldn't look like a bridal gown, but it's just a respect thing. why shouldn't the bride be the only one in white/ivory? Sometimes in the summer ad cute ivory dress is okay though. I dunno, I think it's a wierd liine to cross.
Fh's aunt bought a BEIGE dress with a gold lace overlay as her MOG dress for her son's wedding and her FDIL FLIPPED THE F*** OUT on her! It wasn't even close to ivory though. She made her return it and buy a blue dress. she's still barely speaking to the FMIL. the wedding is in June..i can't wait to see the drama!
