When meeting with my DJ, he recommended a few things and then goes remember to have two garter one for when the FH takes off to throw and one for when FH takes off the wedding night

My mom in the background starts yelling skip that part we wont be doing no garter during the reception. I really want to do this! ughh but my family so freakin religious.

hahaha, yea, there's no way my family would be ok with fh reaching under my dress.....and i don't think i'd feel comfortable with him doing that in front of family either. this is for him to do in private....maybe in the suite during ch....and maybe i'll ask the photographer to take a pic of it

i think thats a great idea may24bride. Maybe he can do the photos in the RH before the guest come in so it seems in the photos you did it.

joshisgirl, those look amazing.

Here comes a dumb question. what is the point of programs?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

usually the program just lists names of the bp, parents, officiant, etc.

for us, our ceremony is primarily in our language, so for those who don't speak/can't understand....we're actually translating the whole ceremony into english with description of the cultural aspects.

yup, that's what we did. we didnt have a bridal party or anything so the last page we just used for thanking everyone and acknowledging those who passed away

go to a crafts store like ac moore or michaels....they usually have place cards and cards that you can use for your table #'s.....and you can be creative with them

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

There are couple stores in the city which sell cardstock and many choices.
If you can take a trip to the city, go to 18th St. between boardway & 6th Ave.
I got material for my placecard, table No. Programs and some other DIY. things.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Here is my little reviews of my wedding:

Jericho Terrace: A
The Place was nice, the food was good and the staff were wonderful. The only thing was I wish they know how to bustle my dress. It was some confusion there. and they forget my cake topper until the florist put the flowers on the cake already so they have to put my cake topper in the front.

The Sterling: A
Same thing, They decor. our place very nicely, They have their own indian decor for us to choose from. So we dont' have to spend a lot of money to have the set up we want. The food was good, the desert table was amazing. My guest love it the way they present it. The Staff were very helpful. My mom tip the bridal attendent on top of our tip becasue she took care my family too.
The only thing is they forgot the Ganeshas on the placecards table

Florist: Fleurafina A+
Richard was very talented and his work was amazing. We uesed him for both days and the arrangment were absolutely gorgeous and his price was resonable. I will use him again in the future if I have anyother event.

Marie Stack (MAS Music) A+
She is our Musician for our christan ceremony and cocktail hour. Wonderful Lady. Hight recommend her.

Dholi A++ (I dont know his name, DH found him)
He was amazing and stayed til almost at the end of the night) He was so good that many of my friends already asked his contact for future event.
He was so good that Baraat was 15 min. longer coz no one want to stop dancing.-)

Photographer/videographer:
True Love Weddng A
We had 2 different one for each day, We Love TLW's proofs so much, the photographer Johnny 's work were amazing! We couldn't believe how well the pictures came out. The only thing was he was suppose to take 800 pictures but we only got 400, But we didn't care too much since 90% of the 400s were so good We dont' know what to pick. The Videographer works very quick, we got our DVD already and They are nice.

Vahoo B+
His still post pictures are awsome. We love them a lot. but we were hoping we can see better Jouralism pictures. He is very good photographer, easy to work with and very friendly. He took a lot of pictures for us and he actually were there longer than we expected (both morning and night)

Okay, now it is the best part:

DJ Kucha F- (if there is a low rate i will give him that)

We booked DJ Kucha, and very nicely, He DID NOT show up at our weddings. He sent someone else which has no idea our names, our first dance songs and our rundowns. The best part was, the first sub DJ was 1 hour late So on the first day it was a mess at the begining. DH was about to kill someone. and then the sub DJ arrieved and thing s get a little better.
the second day the sub was a lot better, (we have more time to prepare too). I give him more credit coz he played okay and tried his best to make the party going. We were okay with him. He didnt play the songs we want but he did play our first song.

Beside DJ Kucha, all my vendors were wonderful. I highly recommend any of them. I see all of you are using other DJs, I was worry that someone on this broad is using him. I dont' want this to happen to other people. So if any of your relatives or friends want to use DJ Kucha, be careful. You can FM me for more details.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

oh make up , i forgot to mention.

For my christan weddng, I used a lady called Sachiko, she was amazing, she did all my BM's hair/make up.

For Indian wedding, I used Ginni from Habib.
She was very nice too. She did mine and my SIL's make up. She got me ready for both morning and night.
